QB’s 557 yards, 8 TDs enough

ROSE BUD 61, MAYFLOWER 40

ROSE BUD —The spoils went to Mayflower on Thursday night.

Adam Dycus passed for 557 yards and eight touchdowns as Mayflower defeated Rose Bud 61-40 in a 2-3A Conference game at Rambler Stadium.

Dycus threw five of his touchdown passes in the first half as Mayflower led 33-18 going into halftime.

“He does it every week,” Mayflower Coach Jed Davis said. “It is we we come to expect. He spoils us.”

Dycus helped stake Mayflower (6-4, 4-3) to a 12-0 lead after connecting with Madison Chambliss for 35- and 5-yard scoring strikes, the last one coming with 7:33 left in the first quarter.

Rose Bud (2-8, 0-7) responded with a 10-play, 55yard drive that Caleb Ferren capped with a 1-yard run with 2:19 to go in the opening quarter to make it 12-6, but Dycus added another a touchdown pass to make it 19-7 less than a minute later as Drew Duncan caught a ball that was deflected off one of his teammates and raced 43 yards for a score.

Ferren added two more touchdown runs in the first half, each time pulling the Ramblers within a score, but Dycus connected with Chambliss for a 50-yard touchdown pass with 1:38 to go in the half to make it 33-18.

BALD KNOB 35, PERRYVILLE 6

BALD KNOB — Grant Glaze threw a pair of touchdown passes and Tristan Fallwell caught a touchdown pass and ran for another as Bald Knob (3-7, 2-5) rolled over Perryville (3-7, 1-6) in a 2-3A Conference game.

HARDING ACADEMY 24, BARTON 20

BARTON — The only fourth-quarter points came off a late fumble return by Kohl Blickensta­ff to give Harding Academy the victory over Barton.

The victory was the Wildcats’ 38th consecutiv­e in conference, but Harding Academy (10-0, 7-0 2-3A) had to rally from a 20-7 first half deficit.

Harding Academy’s Trey Davis, who rushed for 232 yards on 44 carries, scored late in the second quarter on a 5-yard run and kicked a 25-yard field goal toward the end of the third quarter to pull Harding Academy to within 20-17.

With 4:42 left in the game, Barton (8-2, 5-2) quarterbac­k Laquarius Hall fumbled at the Barton 28 and Blickensta­ff picked it up and ran it in for the game-winning touchdown.

Harding Academy finished with 425 total yards.

3-3A HOXIE 49, HARRISBURG 7

HOXIE — With a 14-0 lead to start the second half, Hoxie (10-0, 7-0) outscored Harrisburg 28-7 in the third quarter on its way to an easy victory.

Hoxie running back Gunner Cook built the early lead on two first half rushing touchdowns, but it was a 60-yard touchdown pass from quarterbac­k Cole Sears to Hunter Wilson that started the rout.

Harrisburg (2-8, 2-5) responded to Sears’ score with a 59-yard touchdown pass with 9:07 left in the third quarter, only to give up a 55-yard touchdown run by Sears and a 22-yard touchdown run by Cook.

Sears completed 5 of 9 passes for 142 yards and 1 touchdown and ran 14 times for 119 yards and 1 touchdown.

Cook finished with 19 carries for 140 yards and 3 scores.

6-3A SMACKOVER 55, GENOA CENTRAL 0

TEXARKANA — Fabian Sims ran 7 times for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns as Smackover secured at least a share of the 6-3A title with a road victory.

The Buckaroos (9-1, 6-1 6-3A) held the Dragons (1-9, 1-6) to 63 total yards.

Freshman Michael Edwards ran 5 times for 62 yards and 1 touchdown. Elmo Hempstead returned a punt 63 yards for a touchdown. Smackover finished with 393 total yards.

FOUKE 19, PRESCOTT 13

FOUKE — Fouke (7-3, 4-3 6-3A) built a 12-point lead in the first half and forced four turnovers as it defeated Prescott (5-5, 4-3) to clinch a Class 3A playoff spot.

Tyler Edwards carried 30 times for 208 yards and 2 touchdowns as Fouke rushed for 300 yards and rolled up 339 total yards. He scored on runs of 24 and 91 yards.

Jacob Garrett added a 1-yard touchdown run for Fouke.

Khaalid Stewart ran for 133 yards and two touchdowns to lead Prescott, and Tyler Woods had 111 yards rushing. Stewart scored on runs of 7 and 3 yards.
