OBU dominating in victory

OUACHITA BAPTIST 35, ARKANSAS-MONTICELLO 10

ARKADELPHI­A — The Ouachita Baptist Tigers dominated both sides of the line scrimmage Saturday at A.U. Williams Field and came away with a 3510 victory over the Arkansas-Monticello Boll Weevils.

Ouachita Baptist (7-2) scored the game’s final 28 points while holding Arkansas-Monticello scoreless for the game’s final 43 minutes.

The Tigers gained 344 yards on 65 rushing attempts with senior running back Chris Rycraw finishing with 198 yards on 29 carries and one touchdown

Arkansas-Monticello was held to 67 yards rushing and 81 yards passing. Ouachita Baptist controlled the ball for 39:28 while Arkansas-Monticello had the ball for only 20:32.

The Boll Weevils scored first, capping a 14-play, 66yard drive when Rod Smith caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Cody Trimble with 10 minutes left in the first quarter.

Ouachita Baptist answered with an 8-play, 52yard drive. Steven Kehner, who ran 11 times for 79 yards and 2 touchdowns, scored on a 20-yard run with 3:09 left in the opening quarter.

Arkansas-Monticello (55) regained the lead with Jamie McGee drilled a 24yard field goal with 13:50 remaining before halftime, but it would be the final points for the Boll Weevils.

Ouachita Baptist took the lead for good on its ensuing drive when quarterbac­k Jordan Benson scored on a 4-yard run to cap a nine-play, 74-yard drive with 9:20 left in the second quarter.

Ouachita Baptist increased its lead to 21-10 with 1:14 left in the first half when Kehner ran in from 22 yards out. The touchdwon was set up by Greg Williams’ intercepti­on that set the ball on the Arkansas-Monticello 20.

The Tigers scored one touchdown in each of the next two quarters.
