Wedding vows were exchanged by Katherine Courtney Johnson and Capt. Matthew Allen Thompson at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort and Spa, Bora Bora, French Polynesia.
Parents of the bride are Robin and Dr. Philip Johnson, 172 Pleasant Valley Drive. Her grandparents are the late Ruth and Louis Burns and the late Alva and Carl Johnson.
The groom is the son of Sherrie Thompson and Harvey Thompson, both of Toledo, Ohio. He is the grandson of the late Adele and Maxwell Malkin and Irma Gary and John Thompson Jr., both of Toledo.
The traditional Polynesian ceremony included flower crowns and leis for the couple, plus music and dancing by local performers.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a Grecian-style chiffon A-line gown with silver-beaded appliques and carried a bouquet of tropical flowers.
Bridesmaids were Lyndsey Allen, Elizabeth Griffin, Audrey Griffing and Kristen Pruss, all of Little Rock; Sarah Danley of Washington; and Sarah Thompson of Nashville, Tenn., sister of the groom. They wore red or burgundy cocktail dresses in the style of their choice.
Groomsmen were Eric Marsh of Toledo; Karl Koenig and Michael Christopher, both of Columbus, Ohio; Justin Geen and Darren Geen, both of Fort Rucker, Ala.; and Matt Johnson of Little Rock, brother of the bride.
A reception was held Saturday, Nov. 9, at The Capital Hotel. Tables held large vases of deep purple stock, white hydrangeas, deep red roses and burgundy dahlias. Music was by Boom Kinetic.
The bride is a cum laude graduate of the University of Tulsa with a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology. She has a master’s degree in speech pathology from the University of Kansas. She is a speech-language pathologist at Baptist Health Rehabilitation Institute.
The groom has a bachelor’s degree in electrical and computer engineering from Ohio State University and is working toward a master’s degree in sports management and administration from the American Military University. He is a C-130 navigator in the U.S. Air Force.
After a honeymoon in Bora Bora, the couple will reside in Little Rock.
