Sacred Heart invests in tablets
MORRILTON — Sacred Heart Catholic School has announced in a press release that all students in grades K-12 now have access to tablet technology in the classroom.
Thanks to several successful years of elementary-school cookie-dough sales, the school was able to purchase a classroom set of Microsoft Office Surface tablets, as well as a storage cart to store and charge the devices.
According to digitaltrends. com, “Touch tablets offer a cheap and more intuitive alternative to laptops and desktop PCs. They also dispense with the need to carry around bags full of books. Tablets may be the next big thing in education.”
The school chose the Microsoft tablets for both affordability and functionality. In addition to the touch screen, the Surface offers detachable keyboards that will help students learn and practice typing skills necessary for school work. Sacred Heart teachers have the opportunity to use the technology in their classrooms as a part of their everyday curriculum.
This purchase, as well as other investments in technology, including the addition of IT personnel and wireless capability on campus, are evidence of the school’s commitment to equipping students with the tools necessary to compete in today’s technologically savvy workplaces.
