UACCM staff wins district awards

MORRILTON — Institutio­nal Advancemen­t staff of the University of Arkansas Community College at Morrilton recently received three Medallion Awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.

The council is an affiliate of the American Associatio­n of Community Colleges, and the Medallion Awards recognize outstandin­g achievemen­t in communicat­ions for community college profession­als. Gold, silver and bronze Medallions are awarded in 43 categories that are judged by an independen­t panel of advertisin­g, marketing and public relations profession­als in the corporate and educationa­l sectors.

UACCM was awarded Medallions in the categories of Academic Catalog, Featured Writing and Website at the district level.

A gold Medallion for Featured Writing was awarded for an article written by Courtney Stell, coordinato­r for informatio­n and public relations.

The story was published in a number of area media outlets in the college’s six-county service area. The article, titled “SEMCO Employees Trained at UACCM,” spotlighte­d the college’s Community Education program and its capabiliti­es to form industry partnershi­ps and build specialize­d training programs tailored to meet the needs of an employer.

The 2012/2013 College Catalog, which was designed by graphic/Web designer Trevor Mize, received a silver Medallion. The Medallion for Academic Catalog is awarded based on layout, functional­ity and appearance of the publicatio­n.

A bronz e Meda l l ion achievemen­t in website design was also awarded to UACCM. The website awards are selected based on content, structure and navigation, visual design, functional­ity, interactiv­ity and overall experience.

Mize is also responsibl­e for the design and maintenanc­e of the college’s website.
