––––– ––––– BENTON — Robert “Jackie” Howell, 79, of Benton passed away Nov. 8, 2013, in Little Rock. He was born Nov. 3, 1934, in Ward, Ark., to the late Leathie Ann Parker. He was a U. S. Army Veteran, deacon of West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church, retired custodian of Benton High School and a retired Security Guard of Reynolds Aluminum.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James D. Howell and Floyd M. Howell

Survivors include his wife Betty Sue (Caple) Howell; a daughter, Anitta Armstrong (Bruce) of Benton; three grand-children, Brent Armstrong, Sara Armstrong and Jillian Armstrong; two sisters, Mary Hazel Warford of Lonsdale and Lynda Clay of Spruce Pine, N.C.; sister-in-law, Elaine Howell of Tawas City, Mich.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral service will be held at West Bauxite Missionary Baptist Church, Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at 1 p.m. with Bro. Melvin Burris officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Alexander, Ark. Serving as pallbearer­s are Harvey Hargrove, Mark Weiss, Bryan Robinson, Bryan Keaton, Paul Dennis “P.D.” Warford and Owen Warford. Honorary pallbearer­s are Larry Brown, Billy Teague, Wayne White, Larry Pettit, Brian Howell, Blackie Forbes and Charlie Drake.

––––– ––––– CONWAY — Raymond H. Brown, 82, of Conway died on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at his residence. He was born May 14, 1931, in Harrison, Ark., to the late Charlie Brown and Lena (Moix) Glover. Raymond was a great husband, father, grandfathe­r and friend. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of the University Church Of Christ in Conway. He dedicated his work life to education and training as a teacher then supervisor for Arkansas Rehabilita­tion Services the Department of Education and the Educationa­l Coop at Beebe. His greatest educationa­l gifts were to his children, grandchild­ren and daughters-in-law. He and the love of his life, Edythe, enjoyed traveling together, western swing and spending time with family.

He is survived by his wife, Edythe (Battles) Brown of Conway; his three sons, Don Brown (Vicki) of Little Rock, Johnny Brown (Pam) of Conway, and Scott Brown (Stephanie) of Conway; two granddaugh­ters, Chelsey Davidson (Corey), and Kayleigh Brown, both of Conway; one great-granddaugh­ter, Abby Davidson; two half-sisters, Charlene Blair and Jane Walker; two half-brothers, Paul Brown and Jimmy Brown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaugh­ter, Lindsey Brown; brother, Kenneth Brown; and stepbrothe­r, Dewitt Glover.

Pallbearer­s: Tommy Battles, David Tennyson, Barry Grimes, Jerry Glover, Rick Atkinson, Kim Hoyt.

Honorary pallbearer­s: Fred Dison, Mike Mitchell, John Duke, Bill Stephens, Rodger Harlin.

––––– ––––– OPPELO — Othell Young, age 89 of Oppelo, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013. He was born Aug. 13, 1924, in Ada Valley, Ark., a son of Elbert Young and Jewell Vim Roberts Young. He was a World War II Army veteran who received two Purple Hearts for service to his country. Later he would become a Cattle Farmer and retire from Crompton Mills. Mr. Young was a life member of Morrilton Masonic Lodge No. 105 and of the Christian faith.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Ulalah Edwards Young of Oppelo; children, Larry Young of LaGrange, Ga., Othelia Young Tackett and husband, Robert, of Atkins, Lynn Young and wife, Becky, of Conway; sister, Pauline Young Brown of Ada Valley; brothers, Fred V. Young of Little Rock, Cleo Young and wife, Betty, of Morrilton; seven grandchild­ren; and six great-grandchild­ren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter and sonin-law, Dorothy Young Turner and Garry Turner; brother, Elmo Young and sister-in-law, Marie Young.

––––– ––––– STUTTGART — Richard “Ricky” T. Strabala, age 63, passed away at Baptist Health Medical Center - Stuttgart on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013.

Ricky was born May 17, 1950, in Stuttgart to Richard and Lucille Strabala. He loved farming, hunting, telling stories, and most of all his kids and grandkids. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother, Raymond Strabala; and one nephew, Jake Meins.

Survivors are his wife, Debby Calhoun Strabala of Stuttgart; two sons, Shane Strabala of Little Rock and Rusty (Jill) Bulloch of Stuttgart; one step-daughter, Ashley (John) Bulloch Esposito of Stuttgart; and three sisters, Suzanne Kizzire of Stuttgart, Donna Strabala of Benton, and Alberta (Dean) Meins of Stuttgart; two grandchild­ren, Conrad and Anna Kate Bulloch; and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services, officiated by Clefton Vaughn, are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Turpin Funeral Home chapel with burial in Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery in Stuttgart. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Turpin Funeral Home.
