Name change for Symphony Guild fund
RUSSELLVILLE — Savor the Symphony is the new name for the major fundraising event for the Russellville Symphony Guild.
In the past years, the fundraiser was referred to as Talk of the Town Tables. The event will continue as it was in the past, with only a few minor changes.
The event will be held Feb. 1 at the Lake Point Conference Center. Savor the Symphony is hosted and organized by members of the Russellville Symphony Guild Board.
Ann Squyres and Mary Davis will co-chair the event. Aldona Standridge is president of the board.
The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 with appetizers and assorted beverages.
The silent auction will feature items to bid on and sign-up parties donated by supporters of the symphony. Local artists will offer artwork with a musical theme for purchase.
A French-inspired steak dinner prepared by chef Bruce Trefery will be served at 7:30 p.m.
Throughout the evening, Drew Irvin, a member of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Chamber Group, will perform as a strolling violinist.
The funds generated from Savor the Symphony will be used to bring the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra, featuring maestro Philip Mann, to Russellville on March 29. The funds will also be used to promote music education in local schools, with ASO quartets performing for the students.
In addition, music scholarships are awarded to students who qualify.
