Dr. Lalit Verma, head of Biological and Agricultur­al Engineerin­g for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agricultur­e, was recently honored for his leadership by the American Society of Agricultur­al and Biological Engineers with the organizati­on’s James R. and Karen A. Gilley Academic Leadership Award.

Garver, for the fourth year in a row, has ranked in the Zweig Letter Hot Firm List, which recognizes the 100 fastest-growing engineerin­g, architectu­re, planning and environmen­tal consulting firms in the United States and Canada.

ZweigWhite has also named Garver to its 2014 Best Firms to Work For list in the multidisci­pline category.

AcmeBrickC­o., which has plants in Malvern, Ouachita and Russellvil­le as well as sales offices in seven Arkansas cities, recently received David Weekley Homes’ 2014 nationally acclaimed Partners of Choice Award with an “A” ranking.

MEDICAL

The American SpeechLang­uage-Hearing Associatio­n has honored Dr. Patti Martin, an audiologis­t at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, as a Media Champion for her varied contributi­ons to raising public awareness, including her work on infant sleep sound machines and potential hearing damage and newborn hearing screening.
