Heber Springs Driver Safety Program
HEBER SPRINGS — An AARP Driver Safety Program class will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the McCoy Room of the Administration/Student Services Building on Arkansas State University-Beebe’s Heber Springs campus. Individuals age 55 and older who complete the course will qualify for a three-year discount on their automobile-insurance premiums in Arkansas. Gospel Explosion
MCCRORY — Gospel Explosion, a showcase featuring Southern gospel music and praise dancing, will be performed at 7 p.m. at the Ken Theatre, 103 E. Second St. in downtown McCrory. Art Competition
CALICO ROCK — The Questers and the Calico Rock Museum Foundation are looking for an artist to draw a design for the first Calico Rock Cutout, a character of the artist’s choice, for the Coal House Pioneer Exhibit, one of many characters and local historical figures that will be placed around Main Street. The winning artist will receive a plaque commemorating this life-sized, old-town art, a $100 prize and all paints needed to finish the character. All designs are due Sept. 30. Horseshoe Bend Farmers Market

Pioneer Village
SEARCY — Pioneer Village, a late 19th-century historic village comprising buildings from White County, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through Aug. 28 at 1200 Higginson St. The village also includes artifacts and farm equipment. Tours of the buildings and grounds will be conducted, and pioneer crafts will be demonstrated. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. POCAHONTAS — Davidsonville Historic State Park will offer a Dutch-oven cooking class from 2-4 p.m. Sept. 13 at the park, located 15 minutes from Pocahontas on Arkansas 166.
