CHEROKEE VILLAGE — The Spring River Gem and Mineral Club will present A Rocky Arkansas Economy at 10 a.m. Sept. 4 at the Omaha Center. The speaker will be Sandra Chandler, a geologist from the Arkansas Geological Survey. Searcy Art Walk
SEARCY — The first Searcy Art Walk hosted by the Searcy Arts Council will be held Sept. 5. Beginning at 6 p.m. at the Searcy Art Gallery-Black House, there will be individual artist booths, with featured artist Angela Turney showing in the art gallery, and refreshments catered by Savory Catering. At 7 p.m., the Stevens Art Gallery at Harding University will be open with two art shows: the Christians in the Visual Arts traveling exhibit Picturing the Parables; and The Harding University Art Department in China. The night will wrap up at 8 p.m. at the Midnight Oil Coffee House with an exhibition of artwork by Daniel Adams; live music; and coffee and desserts for sale. Heber Springs Scholarship Scramble
HEBER SPRINGS — The Rotary Club of Heber Springs will hold its annual Four-Person Scramble Golf Tournament on Sept. 5 at the Red Apple Inn and Country Club. Play will begin with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be three flights, with prizes awarded in each flight. There will also be an award for closest to the pin, as well as five holein-one prizes totaling a value of more than $100,000. Proceeds from the tournament will fund scholarships for Heber Springs High School students. Rummage Sale
HORSESHOE BEND — The United Methodist Church in Horseshoe Bend will hold a large rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 5 and 6 at the church, 600 W. Church St. The event will include lunch and a bake sale from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 6. Free parking-lot space is available for vendors to set up, weather permitting. Times-N-Traditions Festival
NEWARK — City Park and Newark Lake will be the sites for the 20th year of the Times-N-Traditions (T.N.T.) Festival on Sept. 6. Activities will include a talent contest, music, vendors, cash drawings, crafts, children’s games, a display from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and a fireworks show. Musical acts will include the Cummins Prison Band, the J.R. Rogers All Star Band and the headlining act, Billy Joe Royal.
