LARRY DON DAVIS, 50, of Little Rock, Ark., went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014. He was born in Searcy, Ark., to Don and Glenda Davis. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Kensett, Ark.

He served in the Navy for 6 years on the USS Archerfish with the highlight of docking in Israel of 10 days.

He is survived by his parents; sisters Alison Mullen and her husband, Dave, of New Bern, N.C., Jill Brooks and her husband, Gary, of North Little Rock, Ark.; three nephews, Blake Brooks, Matt Mullen and Joshua Mullen; and his work family from Home Depot in Mabelvale, Ark.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of St. Vincent CVSD for their kindness and care.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Kensett, Ark.

––––– ––––– THERESE MARIE MEYER, age 86, of Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas formerly of Richfield, Minn., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014. She was born Sept. 14, 1928, in St. Paul, Minn., to the late Daniel and Gertrude Murphy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane T. Meyer; siblings Patricia Murphy, Eileen Rivard and Colleen Engman. Mrs. Meyer was a retired civil servant, she was a member of St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church and she volunteere­d with Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her daughter Joan Meyer of Jacksonvil­le; her son, Timothy J. Meyer and his wife, Cindy L. Meyer; grandchild­ren Adam Meyer, Timothy Meyer Jr., Jonathan Meyer; great-grandchild­ren, Brielynn Farris and Anthony Meyer, all of Virginia.

––––– ––––– ALICE JEAN BOYCE MOORE, 83, of Little Rock, Ark., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014. She was born July 18, 1931, in Daggett, Ark., to the late Carl Lee Boyce and Ellen Chapman Boyce. She was a member of Southwest Community Assembly of God.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 47 years, Arvill Lee Moore.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Moore (Jennifer) of Little Rock; MAJ David Moore, M.D., FS (Dawn) of Clarksvill­e, Tenn.; three daughters, Arvill Jean Worley (James) of Mansfield, Mo.; Janet Wells (Steven) of Lonsdale, Ark.; Brenda Deavers (John) of Marshall, Ark.; 12 grandchild­ren; 16 great-grandchild­ren; two sisters and a brother.

––––– ––––– JOY MURIEL BARBARA MABBUTT OWEN, 88, of Jacksonvil­le, Ark., widow of William L. “Bill” Owen, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014.

She was born in Bozeat, Northampto­nshire, England, on May 17, 1926, to the late Ralph Victor and Ivy Swingler Mabbutt.

On Feb. 2, 1946, Joy married William L. “Bill” Owen, who was stationed in England with the U. S. Army Air Force. Joy came to the United States in 1948. She and Bill were married for almost 47 years, raised six children, and moved often as a military family. They settled in Jacksonvil­le in 1971 when Bill retired from the Air Force.

Joy was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, where she sang in the choir. She was also a long-time member of the Silver Tea Service Branch of the Transatlan­tic Brides and Parents Associatio­n.

Mrs. Owen was preceded in death by her two brothers, Jack and Stanley Mabbutt. She is survived by her six children, Peter Owen, Richard John (Sandra) Owen, Betty Joy (Bill) Thom, Janice (Frank) Lauricella, Buddie (Karen) Owen, Alice Bradford; 12 grandchild­ren; three great-grandchild­ren; and her sister, Pauline (Don) Winter.

––––– ––––– BANKS — Margie Lee Parks McMurry, age 90, of Banks, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 16, at Chapel Woods in Warren, Ark. Born June 19, 1924, in Banks, Ark., a daughter of the late John L. Parks and Maggie Harris Parks, she was a homemaker and the widow of David Edwin McMurry who died Aug. 8, 1999. They were united in marriage July 13, 1946.

Survivors are two sons, Donald McMurry, Banks, Ark., Frank McMurry and spouse, Suzanne, Clinton, Ark. One daughter, Alice Bradford and spouse, Joe, Banks, Ark. Three grandchild­ren, Kristi Sarlo and spouse, Jayson, David Bradford, Grant McMurry. Two stepgreat-grandchild­ren. Also, preceding her in death were sisters Mattie Mae Jones, Carolyn Loomis, Virginia Gannaway.

––––– ––––– BEEBE — Rev. Jerry Johnson of Beebe, was born Sept. 7, 1945, in Grace, Miss., and went to be with the Lord on Friday, Oct. 16, 2014.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Joe Charles and Charlsie Johnson; and one sister, Eva Jean Johnson. He leaves behind his faithful and devoted wife of 50 years, Brenda; four brothers: Joe, Larry, and Brian from Arizona, and Doug of Alma, Arkansas; two sisters: Sandra Lundsford and Diane Brockway from Arizona.

He was a minister of the gospel for over 50 years and planted six churches in various states. He has served the last several years as a faithful Minister and Board Member of the Lighthouse Pentecosta­l Church of Beebe, Ark.

Rev. Johnson proudly served as an employee of Wal-Mart for 13 years and most recently served our community in the meat department. Wherever he was in life, his life was his testimony and for all who knew him there was no doubt of whose he was and whom he faithfully served.

Bessie was a member of the Cross Point Ministries in Beebe and enjoyed yard sales, camping, fishing, playing cards and spending time with her family.

Survivors: Children Eva Fisher (Jon), Walter Harold Gilbert (Brenda), Harold Gene Gilbert (Debra), Kathleen Sapp (Jack), Earnest Lee Gilbert, Charles Lynn Gilbert, Robert Leonard Gilbert, Jessica Marie Hale (John) and James David Ray Wooten (Amy); brother Archie Boyce, Jr.; 25 grandchild­ren, 26 great-grandchild­ren and one great-great-grandchild.

––––– ––––– HAMBURG — Francis Gene Hedgecock, 72, of Hamburg, died Thursday, October 16, 2014, in Little Rock. Born in Horatio, Arkansas to Doris Cannon and Gene Stafford, she was the oldest child with brothers Tom and Jim Stafford. She married Todd Scott (T.S.) Hedgecock on December 30, 1961. She was preceded in death by her husband and her brother Jim. Francis is survived by her daughter Nancy Miller and her husband Chris of Carmel, Calif., daughter Alison Shepherd of Little Rock, and grandchild­ren John Scott and Sydney Shepherd and Lauren and Cameron Miller. She is also survived by her brother Tom and extended family members.

Francis grew up in Lockesburg and loved playing basketball. She also played basketball at Texarkana College. After marriage, she and Scott lived in Memphis, Tenn. while he attended dental school. Francis worked at the Schumacher Mortgage Company during this time. She and Scott moved to Hamburg soon after his graduation and establishe­d his dental practice, where she worked full time as his assistant beginning in 1972.

For many years Francis was an active member of the Hamburg Garden Club, serving as president and other positions for many terms. She loved preparing her many award-winning designs. She worked tirelessly to obtain listing of the Hamburg Presbyteri­an Church in the National Register of Historic Places. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Her second career revolved around teaching at Hamburg Adult Education and at the Fountain Hill School. Her encouragem­ent and high expectatio­ns of her students positively affected many of their lives. She loved every minute of teaching and was very proud of each student’s educationa­l accomplish­ments and future successes.

In her spare time, Francis loved watching many sports, including the Arkansas Razorbacks, San Antonio Spurs, and tennis of any kind as well as watching John Scott and Sydney play baseball and softball in nearby Dumas.

––––– ––––– HOT SPRINGS — Robin Miller Braun, 59, of Hot Springs, passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at her home. She was born September 9, 1955 in Little Rock to the late Dalton A. and Nancy Crandall Miller. As a believer she is now residing in Heaven. Robin was a beautiful, dynamic woman who had a great capacity for love and dedication for her family and friends, who she loved unconditio­nally and wholeheart­edly. With an intelligen­t spirit of playfulnes­s she found joy in her family, friends and relationsh­ips she built through 50 for the Future, Jazzercise, and the Birthday Club of Hot Springs. She always found deep happiness in the outdoors, flowers, and birds, but never more than when gardening, hiking or spending time at Garvan Woodland Gardens, where she was a proud charter member. Her fiery passions for politics, finance, interior decorating and gardening will be cherished by those fortunate enough to experience her dynamic spirit.

After graduating from Henderson in 1977 and several years of graduate work, she became a licensed psychologi­st. In 1982, she was appointed by then Governor Bill Clinton to direct the Office of Rural Health, where she would stay until the birth of her son John in 1987. She was devoted to the family business Braun Eye Clinic, where she served as the office director.

Her beautiful, sweet, playful nature will be cherished by her husband of 31 years, Dr. Jim Braun; two sons, Eric Braun (Rachel) Braun of Little Rock and Dr. John Braun of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvan­ia; her sister Rene’ Burns (Steve) of Hot Springs; Sister-in-law, Barbara Larsen (Kent) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; nephew Jared Larsen, three nieces, Sarah Burns, Kjerstin Lifto, and Kendra Hildenroth; and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Gross Funeral Home.

A celebratio­n of Robin’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2014 in the sanctuary of her church, First United Methodist with Rev. David B. Wilson officiatin­g. Family will be present at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary to receive friends and family.

––––– ––––– HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE — Kyle Polk, 29, of Hot Springs Village, Ark. passed away Monday, October 13, 2014 at Saline Memorial Hospital. He was born September 9, 1985 in Little Rock. Kyle was a member of Jessievill­e First Baptist Church, a volunteer for the Jessievill­e School System, and an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Sarah Polk, grandfathe­r, Gilbert Polk, and great-grandmothe­r, Mae Spivey.

Survivors include his parents, Gil Polk of Hot Springs Village and Jackie (Spivey) Echols and husband John of Benton; two sisters, Crista Anderson of North Little Rock and Kara Polk of Hot Springs Village; three brothers, Chad Parker (Lindsey) of Benton, Zack Polk (Michelle) of Pond Creek, Okla., and Kenton Polk of Hot Springs Village; maternal grandparen­ts, Jack and Sue Spivey; paternal grandparen­ts, Jim and Donna Christenbe­rry; aunts and uncles, Rick and Susan Spivey, Cindy and Marty Green, Sally Hinkle, Kathy and Robert Nielsen, and Annie and Jeff Willis, along with numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.
