A total of 215 of the state's more than 1,000 public schools – the top 20 percent in terms of achievement, achievement gains and graduation rates if applicable – will share in $7 million in state reward money. Schools that performed in the top 10 percent of schools will receive $90 per student, while those in the top 11 percent to 20 percent will receive $45.10 per student. School committees made up of the principal, a parent and a faculty member elected by the school staff will choose how to spend the money.
