Runner said to drop gun, 2 bags of ‘pot’

North Little Rock police arrested a man Saturday afternoon after he purportedl­y ran from officers, and he was charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, possession of a defaced firearm, possession of controlled substance with purpose, fleeing and second-degree forgery.

Tre McKinney, 20, of 3516 Gum St. in North Little Rock was arrested at 1:40 p.m. Saturday at 2700 Railroad Ave. Police said he fled a car he was riding in after the car was stopped because of its tinted windows. McKinney crossed Perry Machin Drive before being captured by North Little Rock police, the report said.

As the arresting officer retraced McKinney’s path, two bags of marijuana and a black handgun with its serial number scratched off were recovered, police said. The report also states that McKinney had $500 in counterfei­t money in his front, right pocket.

McKinney was transporte­d to the Pulaski County jail where he was held Saturday night with no bail set.
