Luminaria event casts limelight on nonprofit
It started as an Alzheimer’s support group. Thirty years later, the nonprofit Alzheimer’s Arkansas celebrated its anniversary with a luminaria service held Nov. 13 at the group’s Little Rock headquarters. Guests were also invited to sign a “Memory Tree” painting and enjoy heavy hors d’oeuvres and cupcakes frosted with teal colored icing, the group’s official color.
Sharon Heflin, vice president of the board of directors, welcomed guests to the anniversary celebration. The Rev. Lauren Arthur Burton provided the invocation.
Alzheimer’s Arkansas provides family and caregiver services free of charge and offers 24-hour telephone support, advocacy and education.
“We are constantly available to care and comfort, inform and guide,” said program director Priscilla Pittman.
