Wedding vows were exchanged by Monique de Oliveira Teixeira and Kenneth Andrew Martin Jr. at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Afrikan House Village in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The Rev. Gustavo Bacha of Igreja Presbiteriana de Vila Mariana officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Railda and Carlos Alberto Teixeira of Sao Paulo. She is the granddaughter of the late Maria Vitalina de Jesus and the late Braulino Ribeiro de Oliveira of Floresta Azul, Brazil, and the late Maria Piedade de Andrade Teixeira of Sao Paulo and the late Gabriel Florentino Teixeira of Ponta Del Gada, Portugal.
Susan and Dr. Kenneth Martin of Maumelle are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of Janelle and the late Roy Martin of Rison and the late Sue and Bill Fox of Pine Bluff.
The altar held an arrangement of ivory roses and baby’s breath. Clusters of wedding flowers decorated every other pew. Music was by Coral Tanus, an orchestral quintet.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless gown of ivory silktulle. The bodice had a sweetheart neckline and was embellished with beaded Alencon lace appliques. The skirt’s scalloped hem and chapel-length train had a wide border of matching beaded lace. She carried a large teardrop bouquet of white hydrangeas, roses, Queen Anne’s lace, white snapdragons and miniature lilies in shades of blush and white.
Bridesmaids were Sheila Campolongo, Leticia Mendonca and Danielle Nagao Rabello, all of Sao Paulo; Anna Kendrick of Little Rock; and Laura Martin of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Mary Susan Williams of Richardson, Texas, sisters of the groom. They wore sapphire-blue chiffon gowns in the style of their choice and carried bouquets similar to the bride’s.
Flower girl was Bia Teixeira of Sao Paulo, niece of the bride.
Groomsmen were Fabio Teixeira and Felipe Teixeira, brothers of the bride, and Ivan Mendonca, all of Sao Paulo; Michael Kendrick of Little Rock; David Lau of Santa Cruz; and Wesley Williams of Richardson.
Following the wedding ceremony, guests enjoyed a dinner and dance, also at Afrikan House Village. Guest and banquet tables held tall silver and crystal candelabra with large arrangements of white Virginia roses, lilies, snap dragons and eucalyptus. Music was by SP3.
The bride has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Universidade Paulista, Sao Paulo, and is an accountant with Avon International.
The groom has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington & Lee University, Lexington, Va., where he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and the varsity track team. He is a financial and operational analyst at Caltabiano S/A, McLarty Companies LLC.
After a wedding trip to Torres del Paine National Park, Patagonia, Chile, the couple will live in Sao Paulo.
