VOLLEYBALL UALR advances to Sun Belt championsh­ip UALR defeated Texas-Arlington 25-6, 25-15, 25-17 on Friday in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament semifinals in San Marcos, Texas. The Trojans (25-6) will face Texas State at 1 p.m. today in the final. Texas State defeated Arkansas State 25-18, 30-28, 20-25, 25-22 in Friday’s other semifinal.

The trip to the finals is the first for the Trojans since 2000, when they won the tournament.

Junior Sonja Milanovic led UALR with 13 kills and 11 digs while Edina Begic had 12 kills and 11 digs. Setter Megan Mathis had 35 assists. Edina Sellomovic had 7 kills, 5 blocks and 3 aces.

Caylin Mahoney led Texas State with 53 assists and 21 digs. Jordan Kohl had 20 kills for the Bobcats while Alexandra Simms had 18. Sierra Smith had 22 digs and Jordan Moore added 19.

Markie Schaedig led Arkansas State (21-10) with 36 digs. Sarah Kemp had 13 kills while Drew Jones had 10. Mallory Warrington had 9 kills, 36 assists and 17 digs for the Red Wolves.

BASKETBALL UAM

falls to West Florida Arkansas-Monticello’s women turned the ball over 33 times in a 64-49 loss to West Florida on Friday at the West Florida Thanksgivi­ng Invitation­al in Pensacola, Fla.

Arkansas-Monticello (2-3) led once in the first half and shot 36 percent from the floor, including 35 percent on three-pointers. Nikki Mullen led the Cotton Blossoms with 16 points on 5-of-9 shooting. West Florida’s Toni Brewer led all players with 25 points.

Arkansas Tech beats Northeaste­rn State Arkansas Tech’s men used a 28-2 run to start the game and held on for a 67-55 victory over Northeaste­rn State (Okla.) on Friday at Tucker Coliseum in Russellvil­lle.

The Riverhawks made 1 of its first 23 shots to start the game and trailed 36-15 at halftime.

Michael Harmon led all scorers for Northeaste­rn State (1-4) with 21 points, 17 coming in the second half.

Branden Williams led Arkansas Tech (3-3) with 17 points and eight rebounds.

HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

North Little Rock advances KeVaughn Allen scored 14 points as North Little Rock defeated Bossier City (La.) 49-42 in Friday’s semifinals of the Rumble on the Ridge in Forrest City.

The Charging Wildcats (2-0) also picked up eight points from both Kambrion Dickerson and Adrian Moore.

Today’s championsh­ip game is scheduled to tip off at 4:30 p.m.
