DOROTHY FRANCES WOODS, 83, of Little Rock, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, November 26, 2014. She was born to the late Graydon and Othella Brown Bushart and raised in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville from 1949-1951, where she pledged Delta Gamma and was awarded the Model Pledge award. Her excellent musical skills were developed through the Razorback Marching Band where she played the bell lyre and in the Concert Band where she played the marimba. In 1950, Dorothy traveled with the Razorback marching band to New Orleans where it was the featured Mardi Gras band.

Before and during her early years of marriage, she worked for the Fort Chaffee Dental Office, the Arkansas Razorback ticket office and for Dr. Lord, a dentist in Little Rock. After the birth of her first child, she retired from work outside of the home in order to serve her family and many others.

Dorothy was a loving and generous person with a servant’s heart for her family, and her acts of service touched many others as well. She played the piano for twenty-seven years for her Sunday School class at First Christian Church. Later, she joined Fellowship Bible Church in its infancy, and worked many Sundays in the nursery with babies and toddlers and during the week when special programs for women were held.

Dorothy loved to shop, mostly for her daughters and extended family, and is remembered as a very generous Santa Claus. She was also an amazing cook, known for her beignets and baked fudge. Her daughters and grandchildren especially loved her homemade sourdough bread, pecan pie, barbecued chicken and homemade ice cream. During the Christmas season, she would bake a different treat every day, including a variety of delicious chocolates and cookies, many of which were shared with others. Her daughters especially enjoyed making gingerbread men with her when they were young, and then delivering them to their friends, a tradition which was carried on by Dorothy’s daughters with their own children. She cooked countless meals for friends who were ill or going through a family crisis. Her husband, Dan, remembers several occasions when he delivered two meals and once, three meals, all in the same day.

She is survived by her husband, Daniel Hon Woods; daughters, Terry Lynn Woods of Flintstone, Georgia, Dana Leigh Adams (Nick) of Little Rock and Carol Denise Frazier (Rich) of Chandler, Arizona; granddaughters, Corrie Christine Winn (Jason), Haven Nicole Frazier, Leanna Beth Adams and Mallory Hope Frazier; grandsons, Justin Hon Adams (Christa), Shaun Daniel Adams and Jack Christian Frazier; and great-granddaughters, Thoryn Marie Adams and Peyton Dorothy Winn. Dorothy’s family remembers and appreciates her generous spirit.
