Back to Capitol Hill, but just until Dec. 11

WASHINGTON — Members of the U.S. House and Senate return Monday to Washington. Both chambers are scheduled to finish up their work for the year by Dec. 11. Last week members were home for the Thanksgivi­ng holiday.

U.S. Rep. Rick Crawford toured Peco Foods Inc. chicken hatchery in Batesville on Monday. The Jonesboro Republican also toured one of Peco’s poultry farms and a separate feed mill in Independen­ce County.

Five rural Arkansas schools will receive used computers through the U.S. Senate’s Computers for Schools program, U.S. Sen. John Boozman announced Tuesday.

Each school receives five Hewlett-Packard 7900 Small Form Factor computers, including flat panel monitors, mice and keyboards. The schools are Deer High School in Deer, Strong High School in Strong, Scranton High School in Scranton, Hillcrest High School in Strawberry and Dermott Elementary School in Dermott.

U.S. Sen.-elect Tom Cotton is scheduled to appear on NBC’s Meet the Press today to discuss the Republican­s’ new Senate majority and foreign policy, his staff said. The Dardanelle Republican won the seat over U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor.

This is the second time since the election that the current 4th District congressma­n has been a guest on a Sunday morning show. He was on Fox News Sunday on Nov. 16.

The Sunday-morning news show hosted by Chuck Todd is broadcast in Little Rock on KARK-TV at 9 a.m.; in Fayettevil­le on KNWA-TV at 8 a.m.; in El Dorado on KTVE-TV at 8 a.m.; and in the Memphis area

on WMC-TV at 9 a.m.

2016 POTENTIALS SPEAK

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee is scheduled to speak Feb. 26, at the closing session of the National Religious Broadcaste­rs’ 2015 Internatio­nal Christian Media Convention in Nashville, Tenn.

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to speak Thursday at the Massachuse­tts Conference for Women in Boston, according to the Boston Herald.
