UALR off to 5-0 start, first in program history

Kaitlyn Pratt scored a career-high 20 points and had 10 rebounds as the UALR women’s basketball team extended its best start in school history with a 6659 victory over Memphis on Saturday at Elma Roane Fieldhouse in Memphis.

UALR took a lead in the first half with an 8-3 run to go up 20-16, and it never trailed again as it improved to 5-0 for the first time in program history.

The Trojans led 31-24 at halftime and by as much as 53-36 with 7:35 left in the game. The Trojans shot 40 percent from the floor while holding Memphis (24) to 36 percent shooting and forcing 23 turnovers.

UALR entered Saturday’s game coming off two rough offensive performanc­es. UALR beat Rice and Oral Roberts but shot only 32.3 and 38.5 percent from the floor in those games.

Several UALR players pitched in Saturday as the Trojans scored a season-high point total. Taylor Gault scored a season-high 19 points, while Alexius Dawn added 12 points and Kiera Clark 11.

Ariel Hearn scored 22 points for Memphis before fouling out. Brianna Wright had 14 points and 16 rebounds, and Asianna Fuqua-Bey scored 11 points.
