Creative types sell off fruits of their labor at sneak peek
Members of the Arkansas Arts Center had the first look and first chance to buy works from about 80 local artists Nov. 21 at a preview party at the Metroplex.
Items for sale included hand-decorated scarves, jewelry, glass works, ceramics and paintings. The artists were teachers or students at the Arts Center’s Museum School.
Besides having the first chance at the original artwork, members enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres and a wheel-throwing demonstration by ceramics artist and teacher (and Active Style editor) Celia Storey.
The sale was open to the public the following day. New classes begin Jan. 5, and registration is now open at arkansasartscenter.org. — Story and photos by Cary Jenkins
