REPLAYS DON’T go Arkansas’ way.

FAYETTEVILLE — Replay reviews were not kind to Arkansas in Friday’s 21-14 loss at Missouri in the first meeting of the border rivals as SEC members.

One of the game’s critical plays came on a reversal from replay official Jon Bible in the first half after the officiating crew had ruled Trey Flowers forced a Maty Mauk fumble that was recovered by Arkansas’ Taiwan Johnson at the Missouri 19.

Arkansas led 14-3 at the moment and had a shot at extending the lead in the final minute of the half.

The replay official deemed Mauk’s right arm had just begun a forward motion as Flowers attacked from the blind side and the play was ruled an incomplete pass.

“I was really relieved,” Mauk said. “I didn’t see the guy coming. I was looking down the field and I stepped into it and didn’t even see him. We were fortunate there.” Flowers agreed. “I would say it was pretty big,” Flowers said. “It was in their territory, probably in the red zone. If we had gotten that in our favor … we could have put some more points on the board. That’s just adversity. You’ve got to live with it.”

Said Arkansas Coach Bret Bielema, “It would have been a huge momentum swing going into the locker room. We were going to take a couple of quick shots from an offensive standpoint.”

Bible also determined Arkansas running back Alex Collins lost a fumble to Markus Golden with 2:13 left in the game at the Missouri 35, essentially sealing the Tigers’ victory.
