Trans-Siberian Orchestra to light up Verizon

Rock ’n’ roll meets traditiona­l Christmas sounds and turns up the volume and the spectacle this weekend with the annual return of Trans-Siberian Orchestra to Verizon Arena.

The group will perform two shows: at 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday.

The TSO creator-lyricist/ composer, Paul O’Neill, will bring his band for a performanc­e of their rock opera, The Christmas Attic, which is the only album of the TSO trilogy that has never been performed live. TSO marked its 15th year in 2013 and has played more than 1,600 shows for more than 11 million fans.

Tickets are $59.50, $74.50 and $89.50.

Aaron Carter will perform at Juanita’s, with Dyllan Murray opening the show at 8 p.m. today.

Carter, now 26, got his start at age 7 and two years later opened a show for his brother, Nick Carter’s, band, the Backstreet Boys. Aaron Carter’s hit singles include “I Want Candy,” “Aaron’s Party,” “That’s How I Beat Shaq,” “Oh Aaron” and “I’m All About You.” He recently finished a 400-performanc­e stint in The Fantastick­s and he has had roles on TV and in movies. Blues group The Joe Pitts Band will perform its seventh annual Christmas Jam to benefit the Arkansas Food Bank at 5 p.m. Saturday at ThirstN-Howl.

Pitts’ band will perform, along with Steve Hester and DejaVooDoo, The Deltatones, Deltarado, Greasy Gravy and Bluesboy Jag and the Juke Joint Zombies. Admission is by donation. Thirst-N-Howl, 14710 Cantrell Road, Little Rock, (501) 379-8189

Fingers of Magic, a keyboardis­ts’ showcase, will be held at 8:30 p.m. today at the Revolution Room.

Performers will include Dell Smith, The Alan Storygard Trio, Louis Heard III, Landon DeLoach, Ky Whitmore, Rodney Cummings, Carl Mouton and Nicholas Towbin-Jones.

Friday at 8 p.m., the club will host its sixth annual Toys for Tots party, which will feature Burning Addison, The Flameing Daeth Fearies, Stella Luss and G-Force.

The Hosty Duo will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at Stickyz Rock ’n’ Roll Chicken Shack.

Hailing from Norman, Okla., The Hosty Duo has been on the road for a decade with a funk/blues sound, although the two wrote “Oklahoma Breakdown,” a country hit for Stoney Larue. Admission is $5.
