EDWARD ERVIN BEASLEY a.k.a. “Joe”, 66, Little Rock, born June 8, 1948, passed away December 1, 2014. He was a member of the Community Park Church in Alexander. He was a carpenter by trade and worked for W.E.B. Incorporat­ed.

He is preceded in death by his bride of 42 years, Carol Beasley; parents, Jewel “Dude” Beasley and Connie Beasley; and brother, William E. Beasley. Edward is survived by his daughter, Amy (Jason) Boyce; very special granddaugh­ter, Katie Boyce, whom he adored; siblings, Bonnie (Norm) Brand, Kathleen (William) Baswell, Barbara (Stanley) Leavendusk­y, and L.J. Brand; and brother and best friend, Gerald Beasley; and several nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.

SMSgt. JOE W. BOGY USAF (Ret.), age 84, of Jacksonvil­le passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014. He was born June 22, 1930, in Wabbaseka, Arkansas, to the late Roy P. Bogy and Bunch Marshall Bogy. Mr. Bogy retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service. During his military career he was stationed in 5 countries, he served during the Korean Conflict, Vietnam War and he also served with the Presidenti­al Squadron at Andrews Air Force Base. Following his military career Mr. Bogy worked for Dassault Falcon Jet for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, his pets and was well known for his fast pitch softball pitching skills.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Maxine H. Bogy, his brother, Roy, and his sister, Dorothy. He is survived by his daughters; Elizabeth B. Allen and her husband Ken of Dallas, Texas, Reverend Susan B. Russell and her husband Reverend Dr. David of Ames, Iowa, Dr. Lori Black and her husband Randy of Jacksonvil­le, two granddaugh­ters, Zoe Russell and Kelli Black, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express sincere thanks to Fox Ridge Assisted Living in North Little Rock for all of the care and compassion giving to Mr. Bogy for the last four years. JO ANN MOORE of Little Rock, Ark., passed away on December 2, 2014, at the age of 82. She was born on October 28, 1932, to the late Joe and Bernice France. Jo Ann was a devoted wife of the late Jack R Moore. She was a loving mother of two sons, Randy and Ronnie Moore.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Moore, and one sister, Jackie France. She is survived by her two sons; one sister, Tommie Nell France Barker; one grandson, Ryan Moore, and many nieces and nephews.

MAXINE WEAKLEY, 86, passed away December 3, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born in Clarendon to Marcus D. and Murney Mary James Willard and worked for TuffNut and Timex Corporatio­n and retired from AGL in Jacksonvil­le.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Verna Ringgold and two brothers, Ezra Willard and Clorolay Willard. ATKINS — Rev. Robert Emery Woody, 85, went to be with his Lord on December 3, 2014, at the Atkins Care Center. He was born May 16, 1929, in Sheldon, Missouri to Emery A. and Clydia E. Wilson Woody.

He graduated from Sheldon High School, in 1947, Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Oklahoma in 1958, Perkins School of Theology in Dallas, Texas and courses of study graduated in 1974. He was licensed to preach December 1, 1953 at the First Church of the Nazarene, Garden City, Kansas, and at the time he was a elementary school principal/teacher at Piercevill­e, Kan., and in 1955 became a pastor in Texas and for many years taught school in Missouri, Kansas, Texas, and Arkansas. From 1958 until 1970.

He was a bi-vocational both as a pastor of Nazarene Churches in Kansas and Texas, and a student pastor of the German Congregati­onal Church in Weatherfor­d, Okla., while a student at Southern Nazarene University, Bethany, Okla. He taught school in order to help support his family. In 1970, he made a career change and became a United Methodist Minister/Pastor where he served United Methodist Church as pastor of the following Churches; Tigert/Morning Star, and Gardner/ New Salem, all in Hot Springs, Mineral Springs/Wakefield, Mineral Springs, Ark., Lewisville/ Buckner, Lewisville, Ark., Carr Memorial, Pine Bluff, Hazen/ DuValls, Hazen, Ark., Fairview, Camden, Ark., Augusta/Tupelo, Augusta, Ark., Nettieton/Mt.Carmel, Jonesboro, Ark., Griffin Memorial/ Schugtown, Paragould, Ark. He officially retired from Griffin Memorial/Schugtown Charge in 1994 and was appointed to the Atkins United Methodist Church in June of 1994 where he served until June of 2006.

He loved being a pastor since October 1955, serving our Lord and helping people find a better way of life for them to live. Thank the Lord for his call, His saving and keeping grace that He provides for all who will follow Him.

One of the highlights in his life was when the “People for a Better Atkins” selected him to be “Citizen of the year” in 1999, He was a member of the Mineral Springs Masonic Lodge “522 and a 32-degree, member of the Scottish Rite in the “Valley of Little Rock, Orient of Arkansas.”

He was preceded in death by his parents, wifes, Lois Rakestraw Woody and Iva Neil Reeves Woody; son, Robert Allen Woody; brother, Glen H. Woody and brothers-in-law, Al Albinson and Jack Rakestraw. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Woody Norman Boren and her husband Doug of Atkins; three grandsons, Robert Woody Norman and wife Malynda, Michael Paul Norman and wife Monica of Houston, TX, Ryan Howard Woody and wife Abigail of Texarkana, six great-grandchild­ren, Cortney Elizabeth Norman, Jacob Paul Norman and Gracie Ann Norman, and Conner Paul Norman, Jackson and Mason Woody; sister, Mary Sue and husband La Don Potts of Jerico Springs, Mo.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Carol Rakestraw of Lamar, Mo., J.L. Moss of Hot Springs, Oda Mae Woody of Forsyth, Mo., Nancy “Rakestraw” Weinstein of St. Francis, Kan., Sue and Larry Gowen of Fayettevil­le, Jo Ellen Albinson of Russellvil­le, Lavada and Elmer Padgett of Russellvil­le, Linda and Don Burnham of Russellvil­le and Mary and John LaFave of Russellvil­le.

BATESVILLE — Linda Galligan, 70, of Batesville died Monday, December 1, 2014 at her home. BELLA VISTA — Claude H. Bradley, 85, of Bella Vista, Ark., passed away November 28, 2014 at Mercy Health Center in Rogers, AR. He was born on March 11, 1929 in Tupelo, Ark. to Tad and Anna Wallander Bradley. Claude was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Sam, B.D. and Perry Bradley.

Claude grew up in Little Rock, Ark., where he graduated from Little Rock High School in 1946. After high school he attended Little Rock Junior College and University of Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineerin­g.

Claude joined the United States Air Force in 1946 and served 22 years in the Air Force and retired as a Major. He served in the Korean Conflict and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He worked for AT&T for 30 years and retired as Division Manager Engineer, Kansas City, Mo.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bella Vista; Aarat and Scimitar Shrine Centers; Past President of Nomad Shrine Club; Board of Governors Shrine Hospital in St. Louis, MO; Past President of the Central States Shrine Greeters Associatio­n; Masonic Lodge and Chapter 295 Order of the Eastern Star.

Claude is survived by the love of his life Jessie Mae Waters Bradley. They were happily married for 64 years. He is also survived by his very special nephews and nieces, Floyd Bradley, Liz Sowder, Michael Waters, Sharon Aureli and Karen Jackson.

BRYANT — Bobby Wayne Carr, age 68, of Bryant, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2014. He was born July 6, 1946 in Center Ridge, Ark., a son of Jude Carr and Lily Bell Anderson Carr. He was a Carman for the Union Pacific Railroad, Vietnam Army Veteran and member of New Hope Nazarene of Little Rock.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marjorie Pruitt Carr of Bryant; son, Joey Carr and wife Deanna of Armorel; daughter, Amber Hiegel and husband Matt of Damascus; two sisters, Dorothy Flowers of Center Ridge and Leta Stroud (Warren) of Conway; grandchild­ren, Madison, McKinley, Monroe, and Mayson Carr, and Caleb Hiegel; three sistersin-law, Velma Carr, Shirlene Carr, Glenda Barber, and Arlene (Bob) Chambers; brother-in-law Bobby (Johnnie) Pruitt; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. CABOT — Ellona Delle Kirtley, 81, passed away on November 28, 2014 in Cabot, Ark. A Graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2014 in Riverside Cemetery with Carl Hogue officiatin­g. Arrangemen­ts are under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

Delle was born February 19, 1933 to Huey Allen and Lavada Ellona (Fancher) Cook in Bowie, Texas. She married Afton G. “Buddy” Kirtley in Cocoa Beach, Fla., in 1967. Delle worked for many years in sales with Dillard’s and retired from JC Penneys. Delle was an excellent decorator and owned and operated Delle’s Drapery Shop. Delle had a passion for singing. In the 1960s with her sisters (Cook Sisters) they made an album called Precious Memories which is still known and listened to today.

Delle was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Afton G. “Buddy” Kirtley in 1984 and four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her son, Mark Stermer of Jacksonvil­le, Ark., and her daughter, Rocklin Rachaner of North Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Johnny Harmon of Arlington, Texas, and Estelline Voyles of Wichita Falls, Texas; a brother, Jirl Cook of Wichita Falls, Texas; three grandchild­ren, Jennifer Rachaner of New Jersey, Amber Guerra of Olney, Texas, and Audry Stermer of Wichita Falls, Texas; and by four great-grandchild­ren.

CABOT — Buddy Wayne Wise II, 45, Cabot, born May 24, 1969, passed away December 1, 2014. CABOT — Stephen Russell Young, 64, of Cabot, died December 2, 2014. Born February 24, 1950 in Chanute, Kansas, he was the son of Earl Russell Young and Delores Theresa Wack Young. A Marine veteran of Vietnam, he was retired lieutenant from the Little Rock Police Department. The author and publisher of “Arkansas Criminal Law Manual” he was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Little Rock Police Department Pension Board. He was of the Baptist faith. An avid Republican, he was proud of his children and the parents they became, and loved telling his wife more times a day than she could count that he loved her.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Bruce W. Young. Survivors are his wife, Debra Young; children, Lisa Basco (Paul), Eliot Young (Nancy) and Angela Brawley (John); grandchild­ren, Lacey Young, Alexis Boyer, Lauren Basco, Madison Basco, Ella Basco, Ethan Young, Evan Young, Carter Brawley and Caleb Brawley; siblings, David Young and Christine Shain, and two step-sons, William Carr III and Jacob Carr.

DEWITT — Dora “Jane” Spears Thigpen, 85, former owner of Jane’s Hallmark in Little Rock at The Market Place passed away at Crestpark Nursing Home in DeWitt, Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was born in Gillett on January 15, 1929 to Walt and Viola Spears.

Jane received her early education in Gillett but moved to Los Angeles, California as a teenager with her mom during World War II, to be closer to her brother, Mack, serving in the Navy. She returned later to graduate from Gillett High School. She married C.W. Thigpen of DeWitt June 13, 1947. She was a housewife and mother of two young children while attending Arkansas State Teachers College in Conway graduating with a BSE in 1961. She taught elementary school in DeWitt, St. Charles and Almyra schools. She also used her degree to become Arkansas County Welfare Director of Social Services. After the death of her husband in 1967 she continued to manage the family farm in DeWitt. She moved to Little Rock in 1971. She received her brokers licenses and help start Holley-Thigpen Realty. Jane is best remembered as owner and operator of “Jane’s Hallmark” in Little Rock. She truly enjoyed the Hallmark business with a kind and generous heart toward customers and employees. She loved meeting people and listening to their life stories. Always ready to share with those in need.

After the onset of Alzheimer’s she moved to DeWitt to be with family. She delighted in reconnecti­ng with past friends and visiting with locals at the coffee shop. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where singing in the church choir gave her joy and happiness. She was always known as MaMa Jane by family and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; Walt Spears, Fred and Viola Grossman; husband, C.W. Thigpen; and brother, Mack Spears. Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory are son, Benny Thigpen (Debbie), daughter, Carla Alter O’Dell (Joe); grandchild­ren: Hunter Alter Norris (Robert), Amanda Alter Martin (Avery), John O’Dell (Katy), Christi O’Dell Obenshain (Chris) and seven great-grandchild­ren.

ENGLAND — Sadie Mae Hutchison, 90, of England, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, November 26th, 2014. She was born in Lewisville, Arkansas, on February 27, 1924, to Sabe and Mary Burton.

SEARCY — Richard Glenn “Rick” Miller, 48, of Searcy, Arkansas, passed from this life on December 2, 2014, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Rick was born on August 23, 1966, in Searcy, the third child of Dr. and Mrs. Robert Miller. He attended Searcy Public Schools and graduated from Searcy High School in 1984 and from Arkansas Tech University in 1989 where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He then attended and later graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School. He remained an enthusiast­ic Razorback fan the rest of his life. Rick spent several years as a public defender in Washington County and later in Benton County. He also had a private law practice in Searcy for several years. In later years he was employed as a land man with Continenta­l Land Company, working in the natural gas industry. Rick was a loyal friend to many, with a quick wit, a generous spirit and kind heart. He was raised to treat all people equally and he lived his life that way. He went out of his way to lend a helping hand when he thought it was needed without any thought of recognitio­n or reciprocat­ion. He tried to look for the best in people, even when it was not easy to do.

He is survived by his mother, Marge Miller, and siblings Ken Miller (Beth) of St. Louis, Missouri, Patty Allison (John) of San Angelo, Texas, and Missy Wolfe (Kevin) of Montgomery, Alabama. Also surviving are nine nieces and nephews who all declare Uncle Rick was the best uncle in the world. He is also survived by many wonderful friends, including his best friend of more than 40 years, Chip Pagan. Rick was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Searcy.
