Parolee arrested after chase, crash

A police pursuit Monday ended in west Little Rock when the fleeing driver’s pickup collided with another vehicle and overturned, according to Arkansas State Police.

The pursuit began about 11:20 a.m. on Interstate 430 near the Interstate 630 interchange.

A state trooper stopped a northbound Chevrolet pickup because it had a “fictitious” license plate, said Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler. When the trooper approached the pickup, the driver, Christopher Stacy of North Little Rock, fled.

Troopers chased Stacy into west Little Rock near Cantrell Road, where the pickup hit another car and overturned.

According to the Pulaski County jail’s roster, Stacy, 39, was booked on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia to manufacture methamphetamine, third-degree battery, fleeing and cruelty to animals.

Stacy’s bail was set at $21,500, and he had a parole hold placed on his custody. He remained on the jail’s roster late Monday.

2 in LR grab man in car’s back seat

A woman got into her vehicle Monday morning and a stranger in the back seat attempted to grab her, Little Rock police said.

Pamela Stephens, 44, of Little Rock got into her vehicle at 600 E. Capitol Ave. about 10 a.m. and saw a man, later identified as 25-year-old Corey Burl, in the back seat. According to a police report, Burl “attempted to grab Stephens,” but she got out of the vehicle.

Two men — Gary Connors and Kevin Blood — got Burl out of the vehicle and held him until police arrived.

Burl was arrested and booked into Pulaski County jail on charges of breaking and entering, harassment and public intoxication. He was being held in jail late Monday with bail set at $20,600.

Fleeing gunshots, crash victims say

As five people fled from gunshots in southwest Little Rock on Sunday, their Toyota Camry hit a light pole and crashed into a house, police reported.

Two of the Camry’s occupants — 19-year-old Byron Hubbard of Little Rock and his unnamed cousin — had fled from the house at 9800 Wilderness Road after someone inside tried to rob Hubbard, according to a police report. A witness told police an unknown man who lived at the residence shot at the Camry as it sped away.

The gunman, who was not identified by police Monday, is facing a charge of terroristic act.

Police arrived on scene about 5:30 p.m. Sunday and found a 16-year-old boy who had been in the Camry. He was lying on the ground and was “dazed” from having been in the car crash, police said. Officers found a revolver sticking out of his pocket.

The boy was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. After he was released from the hospital Sunday, he was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on a charge of possession of a handgun by a minor.

A 17-year-old girl, who had been in the Camry at the time of the wreck, returned to the scene about an hour later. After the wreck, the girl and other occupants of the car ran from the area to get away from the gunman, she told police.

She said Hubbard had gone to the Wilderness Road home because he owed “a guy” $50. Hubbard had cash from his tax return in his pocket, and the people inside the home tried to rob him, she told police.

2 track attacker for a mile in LR

A Little Rock man who was hit on the head with a gun Sunday followed his assailant, police said.

Roman Alanzo, 24, told police two men — one pointing a silver automatic handgun — followed him to his home in a gray car.

At the home, 5420 Southboro Drive, the man hit Alanzo in the head with the gun, and Alanzo ran inside the house.

Alanzo and 26-year-old Marco Garcia, who also lives at 5420 Southboro Drive, got into a vehicle and followed the suspect’s car. They watched as the car stopped at 5201 Southboro Drive and the driver ran inside the house. The driver came out a few minutes later, got back into the car and drove away, Alanzo told police.

The men realized they were being followed, and Alanzo and Garcia lost them about a mile away near Chaucer Lane and Terryson Drive, the report states.

Police arrived about 10:40 p.m. and were unable to locate the car. The men were both described as 18- to 20-year-old, 5-foot-4 black men weighing 120 to 130 pounds.
