Lynch will be back with the Seahawks after agreeing to a new contract with the team, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Lynch had arguably his best season in 2014. He rushed for the second-most yards of his career (1,306), averaged the second-most yards per carry (4.7), had the second-most receptions (37) while also scoring the most touchdowns (13) and having the most receiving yards (367).

Talks throughout the season and off season have been about not only whether Lynch would return to the Seahawks, but whether he would play football at all.

Sources said during the season that Lynch had openly talked about retiring, although most of those sources thought the itch would be too great and Lynch would ultimately return.

No information was immediately available concerning the new contract.

In other Seahawks moves, tight end Zach Miller was released Friday. His contract was terminated with the designation “failed physical.”

Miller played in just three games last season before undergoing ankle surgery in late September. He was placed on injured reserve in November after complications slowed his recovery.

Miller spent four seasons with the Seahawks after signing as a free agent in 2011. He proved more important as a blocker than a pass catcher in Seattle’s offense.

Miller restructured his contract before the 2014 season to remain with Seattle. His release leaves the Seahawks with three tight ends under contract: Luke Willson, Cooper Helfet and RaShaun Allen. Tony Moeaki was picked up at midseason when it became apparent Miller would not return, but is an unrestricted free agent.

The Seahawks also waived oft-injured defensive tackle

Jesse Williams, waived offensive lineman Garrett Scott for a non-football illness (enlarged heart) and re-signed defensive lineman Greg Scruggs to a oneyear contract.
