LR police cruiser hit at accident site

-

Little Rock police arrested a man who backed into a patrol car near the scene of a separate crash Saturday night.

Officers had responded to a crash at 5400 Chenonceau Blvd. when, about 11:50 p.m., Richard Hines backed out of a parking space and struck an unoccupied police car. Hines, 53, tried to drive away but was stopped, according to a police report.

Hines smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and didn’t cooperate with officers when they tried to detain him, according to the report. He refused to take a breathalyzer test and threatened to sue one of the officers who arrested him, the report said.

Hines was charged with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a chemical test, careless or prohibited driving, refusal to submit to arrest and attempting to influence a public servant. He was not listed on the Pulaski County jail roster late Monday.
