Folk Club to host married duo Smokey &The Mirror

Smokey & The Mirror will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday for the Little Rock

Folk Club at Thomson Hall at Unitarian Universali­st Church. Admission is $15, $8 for students with IDs and free for accompanie­d children age 12 and under.

Smokey & The Mirror — the husband and wife duo of Bryan and Bernice Hembree — have spent seven years as members of Northwest Arkansas folk trio 3 Penny Acre. They also co-founded Fayettevil­le’s Roots Festival.

As Smokey & The Mirror, the Hembrees give voice to their rock, country, R&B and pop influences, such as Buddy Holly, Indigo Girls and Bruce Hornsby, among others, along with their own original songs. Bryan plays guitar, Bernice plays double bass, both sing and they will be joined by guitarist Terry Buffalo Ware, a member of John Fullbright’s band.

Handmade Moments — back from a three-month tour of South America — will perform from 9 p.m. to midnight Friday at The Afterthoug­ht. Admission is $7, or $12 for reserved seats.

The duo of Anna Horton and Joel Ludford — also members of the group Don’t Stop Please — is back in Arkansas for about six weeks before they hit the road again.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah will perform at 9 p.m. today at Stickyz Rock ’n’ Roll Chicken Shack. Admission is $15.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, founded in 2004 by Philadelph­ia students attending Connecticu­t College, released a debut album in 2005 and became one of the first bands to achieve fame through social media. Over the past decade, the band released five albums as four of the five members drifted away, leaving only Alec Ounsworth (guitar, vocals, synthesize­rs and drum machines) as an original member, augmented by bassist/producer Matt Wong.

Futurebird­s, along with opening acts Roadkill and Ghost Choir, will perform at 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 the day of the show.

Cadillac Jackson will headline a 9 p.m. show Saturday, with Free Verse opening. Admission is $5.

Desert Noises and The Consumers will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $8.

Drastic Measures Production­s will present Ringworm, along with opening acts Inrage and Severe Headwound, at 8:30 p.m. today at the Revolution Room. Admission is $10.

The Casey Donahew Band returns for a performanc­e at 9 p.m. Friday. Admission is $20.

Ras Levi’s “Jamaica Me Crazy” birthday bash will feature Tricia Reed, Mike Walker, Neff, Msslim, Fire and Brimstone and DJ HY-C at 9 p.m. Saturday. Admission is $12 per person, or two for $20.

Whitey Morgan will perform at 8 p.m. Sunday at Juanita’s. Admission is $12.

Also known as Eric Allen, Whitey Morgan started a band in Flint, Mich., releasing a debut album, Honky Tonks and Cheap Motels, in 2007 under the name Whitey Morgan and The 78’s. In 2010, the band released a self-titled album on the prominent Chicago label Bloodshot Records, which had been recorded at Levon Helm’s studio in Woodstock, N.Y.

The band released its third album, Sonic Ranch, on May 19 on Bloodshot.
