Hot Dog Cool Out SEARCY — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Riders Group District 5, the Veterans Outreach Center and Dixie Cafe will sponsor a Hot Dog Cool Out from 2-7 p.m. at the Lightle Senior Center. The event is a fundraiser for the VFW Riders Group District 5 and the Veterans Outreach Center. Dixie Cafe will furnish the food that will be sold. Tribute Quartet Performanc­e WARD — The Tribute Quartet, a Southern gospel group, will perform at 7 p.m. at Day-Spring Missionary Baptist Church. Flix on the Bricks JACKSONVIL­LE — The Jacksonvil­le Chamber of Commerce and the Central Arkansas Library System will show the first movie in their free series Flix on the Bricks at dusk on the front lawn of the Esther Nixon Library. Rio, a G-rated animated movie, will be featured.

Charity Grill-Fest SEARCY — Hamburgers for Homelessne­ss will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Berryhill Park. The event raises money to benefit the Jacob’s Place Homeless Mission. Portfest Festival NEWPORT — The 34th annual Portfest Festival, which has been dubbed Rollin’ on the River, will be held Friday and Saturday at Jacksonpor­t State Park on the banks of the White River. On Friday, Riverbilly will perform at 7 p.m., followed by The Marshall Tucker Band at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $17 in advance or $22 at the gate. On Saturday, Little Texas will play at 7 p.m., followed by Josh Thompson at 8:30 p.m., with fireworks at the end of the show. Tickets are $12 in advance or at the gate before 4 p.m., and $17 at the gate after 4 p.m. Children 6 and younger will be admitted free on both nights.

Dr. Red Bell Memorial Golf Tournament BATESVILLE — Merchants and Planters Bank and the Course at Eagle Mountain will host the Dr. Red Bell Memorial Annual 4 Ball Golf Tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the Course at Eagle Mountain. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at noon Saturday and will be followed by dinner. The round on Sunday will start at 11 a.m., and an awards presentati­on will follow the completion of play. Participan­ts will have an opportunit­y to compete in an alternate-shot-format horse-race event at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

Gourd Workshop POCAHONTAS — The park interprete­r at Davidsonvi­lle Historic State Park will teach gourd crafting from 9 a.m. to noon at the park. Freud’s Last Session

Auditions

SEARCY — Auditions will be held for Freud’s Last Session at 2 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center on the Square. The casting call is for two males. The Dessert Theater production will be performed July 17, 18 and 24-26. The show will kick off Center on the Square’s 2015-16 season.
