––––– ––––– LEE WELLS BROWN, age 78, of Jacksonvil­le went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. He was born February 7, 1937 in Caldwell, Arkansas to the late Tommie Lee and Mary Elizabeth Burns Brown.

After graduating from Forrest City High School, he attended Central Baptist College in Conway. He was an ordained Baptist minister and over the years he served as pastor and interim pastor for various churches around the state. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years and was honorably discharged in 1966. After his discharge he attended Arkansas Tech in Russellvil­le. He later went on to receive his Master Degree from UCA. He taught junior high and high school in Pulaski County Special School District for 27 years.

He is survived by his wife Ann W. Brown of the home, Mr. and Mrs. Brown would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversar­y in November of this year. He is also survived by his daughters, Leigh Anne Russell of Little Rock, Amy Billingsle­y of Maumelle; grandsons, Christophe­r (Amy) Russell of Little Rock, Brady Billingsle­y of Maumelle; great-granddaugh­ter Bethany Russell of Little Rock; sister, Robbie (Randy) Shepherd of Texarkana, Arkansas; and son (in heart if not in birth ), Ollie Mashburn.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Moore’s Jacksonvil­le Funeral Home with Dr. Jesse Thomas and Bro. Randy Shepherd officiatin­g. Interment will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Park with military honors.

––––– ––––– BARBARA JAN FOWLER, age 46, died Saturday, May 30, 2015 in Little Rock in the Hospice Wing of St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Little Rock, October 9, 1968. Her parents were Marie Garvey and William Gerald Fowler. She grew up in Urbana, Illinois. In 1986 the family moved to Harrison, Ark. and subsequent­ly to Batesville, Ark.

She came to Little Rock to live at The Arc of Arkansas where she became part of the Arc family. She brought a smile to all who knew her, and her sweet and cheerful spirit will be missed by all her friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister Julia Fowler Darley of Atlanta, Ga., her aunts and uncles, Barbara Garvey Jackson of Fayettevil­le, Ark., Jan Fowler Burgess of Greensboro, N.C., Zoe Fowler of Brinkley, Ark., Richard and Kitty Fowler of Eldon, Mo., and Henry Fowler of Tichnor, Ark.

––––– ––––– WILLIAM MASON WALKER, otherwise known as “Billy”, died on June 2nd, 2015 at the age of 97. Mr. Walker was born June 21st, 1917 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to William Walker and Tommie Dean Mason. After graduating from North Little Rock High School, he attended Little Rock Junior College. Mr. Walker was a 32nd Degree Mason-Scottish Rite, a member of the Pulaski Heights Lodge #673 for 68 years.

During World War II, Mr. Walker served as a Staff Sergeant with the CBI in the Army Air Corps. Under the command of General Chennault, his squadron, the 26th Pursuit Flying Tigers were based in Kunming, China. After World War II, Mr. Walker had great pride in being a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Upon returning from World War II, Mr. Walker worked for N.L. Industries, Inc., producer of Dutch Boy Products, retiring after thirty years. He was employed by Baltimore Paint Co. as Sales Manager over the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississipp­i. Lastly, he owned Walker’s Rentals in North Little Rock.

Mr. Walker was an honorable soldier, a natural salesman, and a devoted father and grandfathe­r. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 67 years Marie Walker, and one sister, Jewel Whittle. His survivors include one daughter, Karyn Walker Averitt of Houston, Texas, one son, William Mark Walker and wife Rosemary of Sherwood, four grandchild­ren, twin girls, Kameron Swithin and Walker Averitt of Houston, Texas, and William Mark Walker II and Stephanie Walker of Sherwood, and one niece, Julie Ann Whittle of North Little Rock.

––––– ––––– CABOT — Mary Groves, 89, of Cabot died Monday, June 1, 2015. She was born February 20, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Louis and Fanny Florence Teckler Abbate. She was a homemaker and a dedicated military wife. As a young lady, Mrs. Groves worked as a switchboar­d operator and in a munitions plant during World War II. She loved Arkansas Travelers games, league bowling, theater and movies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Edward Groves; one brother, Alfred Kunin; and a granddaugh­ter, Jessica Taylor. Mrs. Groves is survived by three daughters, Donna Dohrn (William E.) of Caldwell, Idaho, Sherry Maxwell of Cabot and Toni Taylor (Phillip Lee) of Cabot; five grandchild­ren, Misty Smith (David), William Daniel Dohrn (Karim), Roxanne Wetzler, Kelly Carter (Bob) and John Wetzler; three great-grandchild­ren, Joshua Smith (Carolyn), Kaitlyn Dohrn and Benjamin Diblanda; and one great-great grandchild, Kamden Dohrn.

––––– ––––– DeANN — Mrs. Sally McCorkle Chambless, age 89, of DeAnn, went home to Heaven on June 2, 2015. She was the widow of Herbert Chambless who she was married to for 65 years. Sally was born January 15, 1926 in Hope, Arkansas to Edward and Viola McCorkle. She was a longtime member of White Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She loved being a wife, mother, grandmothe­r, and great-grandmothe­r. Her family will remember her love and devotion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, one son, Tim Chambless, five brothers; James Thomas McCorkle, Hallar McCorkle, Floyd McCorkle, Claude McCorkle, Johnny McCorkle, and three sisters; Margaret Sumpter, Mildred Duke, and Viola Lamb. Survivors include, one son, Gary Chambless and his wife, Pat, of De Ann, Arkansas; one daughter, Kathy Finuf and her husband, Buster, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas; one daughter-in-law, Darlene Chambless Hardin and her husband, Bradley, of Little Rock, Arkansas; six grandchild­ren, Matt Chambless and his wife, Britani, Jason Chambless, Ali Chambless, Cole Chambless, Mike Sweat, Kristin Smith; five great-grandchild­ren, Claire, Darcie, and Aiden Chambless, Brady and Caison Smith, and other family and friends.

Known warmly by many as “Daddy Jack” Fryer, he was predecease­d by his parents, Jack Thomas Fryer and Alice Camille Fryer. He graduated from U of A Little Rock in 1975 with a Juris Doctorate degree. David and Susie were the proud owners of “Hoots” in McGehee, Ark. which allowed David to truly do what he loved. He never met a stranger and enjoyed getting to know everyone who came to eat at “Hoots.” David was a Loving Husband/Father and will be missed deeply by family and friends.

He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 25 years during World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
