Five- movie event offers Czech flicks
The Arkansas Film Commission, in collaboration with the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission and the Little Rock Film Festival, will host a five- film “Czech That Film Festival,” Friday- Saturday at Ron Robinson Theatre, 100 River Market Ave., Little Rock.
“I am very excited about being able to bring Czech movies to Little Rock,” Lenka Horakova, honorary consul of the Czech Republic in Arkansas and the economic development agency’s business development director for Europe, said in a news release. “It is a fun way to give people a taste of the Czech culture.” Admission is free; reservations are required. Clownwise, 7 p. m. Friday. A famous comic entertainer returns to his native country after 30 years in France and finds surprises in the lives of two other notable artistic personalities. The Icing, 1: 45 p. m. Saturday. In a remote village pub during an ice hockey world championship match, a kidnapped bride gets drunk with the best friend of the groom and a barmaid, and the only one who could stop the proceedings is a no- show. Fair Play, 3: 30 p. m. Saturday. In the former Czechoslovakia in the 1980s, a talented young sprinter training with the national team to qualify for the Olympics is placed in a secret medical program where she receives anabolic steroids to better her performance.
