5K, Square to Square ride set for Labor Day weekend
The longest- running race in the Road Runners Club of America’s Arkansas Grand Prix Series returns for another year. The Ark 5K Classic has been through many name and route changes since the early ’ 80s, but has always been held Labor Day weekend. This year’s race is scheduled for 7: 30 a. m. Saturday in North Little Rock’s Burns Park.
The certified course is an oval loop around Burns Park’s Funland Amusement Park and athletic fields and is mostly flat with some slight uphill sections.
Registration is $ 20 and is available online at arkansasrunningklub.com or during packet pickup Friday at Go! Running, 1819 N. Grant St. in Little Rock, during store hours.

Square to Square
Expect a crowded bike path between Bentonville and Fayetteville on Saturday as the Square to Square Bike Ride follows the recently completed Razorback Regional Greenway from Bentonville’s downtown square to Fayetteville’s.
The 30- mile ride starts at 9 a. m. in the Bentonville square. Before the race, shuttles will depart Hillcrest Towers, 1 N. School Ave., in Fayetteville at 7: 30, 8, 8: 30 and 9 a. m. to take participants to Bentonville. Post- race shuttles will also be available to Bentonville and Springdale, departing Hillcrest Towers at 12: 30, 1: 30, 2: 30 and 3: 30 p. m.
Event festivities will take place between 11 a. m. and 3 p. m. on the Fayetteville square including music, food, drinks and family activities.
