Digital Photography Course BATESVILLE — Instructor Jim Krause, co-owner of Deux Bijoux Bijoux of Evening Shade, will teach students the basic functions of a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera on Thursdays until Oct. 15. Participants in this beginner’s class will learn to use the manual functions of the digital camera. Students need to bring a digital camera with an SLR body and lens to class, along with the camera’s user manual and a journal for taking notes. SAME Café SEARCY — The SAME Café will be open from 4-5:30 p.m. at the West Side Church of Christ. The SAME Café is open to anyone in the community who would like a free warm meal. Cowboy Trade Days and Ranch Rodeo EL PASO — The second annual Cowboy Trade Days and Ranch Rodeo will be held at 9 a.m. at CrossRoads Cowboy Church and Two Bar Two Arena, 3071 Arkansas 5. Skeet Shoot SALEM — The Friends of Old Main will sponsor a skeet shoot at 10 a.m. at the York residence on Old Sturkie Road. All proceeds will benefit the Old Main schoolhouse renovation project. The cost will be $2 per round, and all TCSL regulations must be followed. The first-place winner will receive $100, with other prizes awarded for the other rounds. There is a two-round winning limit. Historic Games Day POWHATAN — Powhatan Historic State Park will hold a free Historic Games Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In partnership with Take a Child Outside Week, the park will have booths featuring games played by all ages from the Victorian Era to the present, as well as several races. Games will include old-fashioned sack races, croquet, graces, marbles, jump rope, jacks, yo-yos, checkers, horseshoes and more. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch and lawn chairs. Outdoor Survival Classes BATESVILLE — Dan Nash, a professional mountain guide, will teach two survival-training classes in Room 902 of the Nursing Allied Health Building at the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, along with field exercises outdoors. Basic Outdoor Survival will meet from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and participants need to bring a water bottle, two bandanas and a steel or magnesium fire striker. Intermediate Survival will meet from 1-5 p.m., and adults are asked to bring a knife and up to 3 feet of string. Each class costs $32 per adult. Instruction in reading, math, writing and computer literacy skills will be available, designed for adults who want to obtain a high school diploma, prepare for the Compass test to enroll in college, acquire a Career Readiness Certificate or learn to use a computer. Art Exhibit BEEBE — The Arkansas State University-Beebe Art Department will display the artwork of Nancy Dunaway through Monday in the England Center Art Gallery at ASU-Beebe. Dunaway’s artworks include acrylic paintings, mixed media, printmaking, assemblage, collage and book art.
