Digital Photograph­y Course BATESVILLE — Instructor Jim Krause, co-owner of Deux Bijoux Bijoux of Evening Shade, will teach students the basic functions of a digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) camera on Thursdays until Oct. 15. Participan­ts in this beginner’s class will learn to use the manual functions of the digital camera. Students need to bring a digital camera with an SLR body and lens to class, along with the camera’s user manual and a journal for taking notes. SAME Café SEARCY — The SAME Café will be open from 4-5:30 p.m. at the West Side Church of Christ. The SAME Café is open to anyone in the community who would like a free warm meal. Skeet Shoot SALEM — The Friends of Old Main will sponsor a skeet shoot at 10 a.m. at the York residence on Old Sturkie Road. All proceeds will benefit the Old Main schoolhous­e renovation project. The cost will be $2 per round, and all TCSL regulation­s must be followed. The first-place winner will receive $100, with other prizes awarded for the other rounds. There is a two-round winning limit. There will be a youth round for ages 12-15, as well as a women’s round. Concession­s will be available. No alcohol will be permitted. Historic Games Day POWHATAN — Powhatan Historic State Park will hold a free Historic Games Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. In partnershi­p with Take a Child Outside Week, the park will have booths featuring games played by all ages from the Victorian Era to the present, as well as several races. Games will include old-fashioned sack races, croquet, graces, marbles, jump rope, jacks, yo-yos, checkers, horseshoes and more. Families are invited to bring a picnic lunch and lawn chairs. Basic Outdoor Survival will meet from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and participan­ts need to bring a water bottle, two bandanas and a steel or magnesium fire striker. Intermedia­te Survival will meet from 1-5 p.m., and adults are asked to bring a knife and up to 3 feet of string. Each class costs $32 per adult. GED/Adult Education Classes FLORAL — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville Adult Education Department is partnering with Midland Elementary School to offer classes from 3-5 p.m. Mondays in the computer lab on the elementary campus in Floral. Instructio­n in reading, math, writing and computer literacy skills will be available, designed for adults who want to obtain a high school diploma, prepare for the Compass test to enroll in college, acquire a Career Readiness Certificat­e or learn to use a computer. Art Exhibit BEEBE — The Arkansas State University-Beebe Art Department will display the artwork of Nancy Dunaway through Monday in the England Center Art Gallery at ASU-Beebe. Dunaway’s artworks include acrylic paintings, mixed media, printmakin­g, assemblage, collage and book art.
