Police said a man was shot and robbed of his wallet outside of his southwest Little Rock home Tuesday night.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Little Rock police were called to 8010 Mabelvale Pike, Lot 14 for a report of a shooting and found Jose Javier-Moreno, 44, with a gunshot wound in his “lower body,” according to a police report. Javier-Moreno was taken to UAMS Medical Center for treatment and is expected to recover.

Alberto Javier-Moreno, 42, told police he had been outside with his brother after the two of them returned home from work. Alberto Javier-Moreno said he went inside to get something to eat and heard a disturbance outside followed by several gunshots. The report said he went outside and found his brother lying on the ground with the gunshot wound and his wallet missing.

Another witness told police he was outside when a person ran past him, pointed a gun at him and told him to get out of the way. The person was described as a bald white man in his late 30s with no facial hair, an average muscular build and about 5 feet 7 inches tall. A description of a second person is not listed in the report.

Witnesses said the assailants got into a white SUV similar to a Pontiac Vibe or Torrent and headed west on Mabelvale Pike toward Baseline Road.

No arrests had been made Wednesday.
