Nettleton staggers Valley View behind Frazier’s 279 yards

JONESBORO — Senior running back Joe Frazier rushed for 279 yards and three touchdowns to lead Nettleton to a 35-17 victory over Valley View in a 5A-East game.

Nettleton (5-4, 3-3) totaled 401 yards on offense. Sophomore quarterbac­k Deondre Henry completed 8 of 14 passes for 101 yards and 1 touchdown.

Valley View gained 234 total yards, led by sophomore quarterbac­k Joe Waleszonia, who rushed for 132 yards, including an 80-yard touchdown. Waleszonia completed 4 of 15 passes for 35 passing yards and a touchdown.

Nettleton opened a 21-0 lead, scoring on all three of its second-quarter possession. Valley View’s Brock Davis’ 32-yard field goal made it 21-3 at the half.

Frazier scored on a 59-yard rushing touchdown 1:42 into the second quarter after Valley View missed a 32-yard field goal to open the quarter. Nettleton went ahead 14-0 on its next possession when senior receiver Sam White caught a 33-yard touchdown pass down the Valley View sideline when he leaped over two Blazers defenders to bring in the score.

Valley View’s fourth punt of the first half set up another Nettleton score when sophomore Jayron Northern ran in for a 15-yard touchdown with 3:35 on the second-quarter clock to give the Raiders to make it 21-0.

Valley View recovered an onside kick to begin the second half and scored in four plays when Waleszonia found Aaron Mobley open on a crossing pattern about 10 yards down the field that allowed Mobley to turn up and find the end zone, making the score 21-10 in favor of Nettleton.

Frazier restored an 18-point lead for Nettleton with 2:07 remaining in the third quarter on Frazier’s 43-yard touchdown.

Waleszonia’s 80-yard run with 1:41 left in the third quarter made it 28-17 Nettleton.

A Valley View turnover set up Frazier’s third touchdown, a 9-yard run, late in the fourth quarter.

BLYTHEVILL­E 45, PARAGOULD 21

PARAGOULD — It was all Desmond Moore in the first quarter and all Demeko Clark in the second as Blythevill­e (7-2, 5-1 5A-East) defeated Paragould (0-9, 0-6).

Moore scored on a 37-yard run and a 5-yard run and threw a 2-yard touchdown pass to Tyrell King in the first quarter.

Clark took over in the second, scoring on runs of 45, 21 and 1 yards.

BATESVILLE 41, GREENE COUNTY TECH 7

BATESVILLE — Kylan Robinson rushed for three touchdowns and had a touchdown reception to lead Batesville (6-3, 5-1 5A-East) over Greene County Tech (1-8, 0-6), four days after two Pioneers players died in a car accident.

Sophomore football players Camdon Osborn, 15, and Will Olson, 15, were killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday night outside Batesville. Four other students were injured in the wreck, including sophomore football players Reagan Paul and Alex Gilmore. Osborn’s funeral was Thursday and Olson’s was Friday, just hours before Batesville played Greene County Tech.

Robinson scored on runs of 11, 72 and 9 yards. Robinson also caught a touchdown pass from Zach Griffin.

Robinson rushed for 153 yards on 14 carries.

Louis Sonnier ran 4 yards for another Batesville touchdown. Ricardo Terreaux kicked field goals from 36 and 25 yards and converted all five extra-point attempts.

Greene County Tech’s touchdown came on a 9-yard pass from Tyson Bayird to Adam Freeman.

WYNNE 37, FORREST CITY 6

FORREST CITY — Luke Chapman and Devontae Pounds each scored two rushing touchdowns to help Wynne (5-4, 5-1 5A-East) beat Forrest City (6-3, 4-2).

Tavon Hicks added a rushing touchdown for the Yellowjack­ets.

Wynne is in a three-way tie for first place in the 5A-East with Batesville and Blythevill­e going into next week’s season-finale. The Yellowjack­ets host Nettleton on Friday.

5A-CENTRAL

BEEBE 35, SYLVAN HILLS 28 BEEBE — Trip Smith rushed for 241 yards and scored two touchdowns for Beebe (5-4, 4-2 5A-Central) in a victory over Sylvan Hills (6-2, 3-2).

Smith carried 42 times, scoring on a 47-yard run and then a 3-yard run with 2:11 left in the game to give the Badgers a 35-21 lead.

Sylvan Hills scored a final touchdown with 50 seconds remaining.

Connor Patrom scored twice on runs of 6 and 32 yards for Beebe. Patrom also had two intercepti­ons.

Beebe led 27-7 at halftime.

JACKSONVIL­LE 46, MILLS 7

Sophomore running back Danny Smith rushed for four touchdowns and returned a punt for another score to help Jacksonvil­le (2-6, 2-4 5A Central) defeat Mills (1-7, 0-5).

Smith scored on runs of 15 yards and 10 yards and twice on 5-yard runs as the Red Devils raced to a 40-0 halftime lead.

The first-half scoring binge also featured linebacker Nate Robbins’ fumble recovery for a touchdown, a 30-yard scoring pass from H.D. Martin to Brad Brown and Avery Wells’ 7-yard touchdown run.

Smith returned a punt 35 yards for Jacksonvil­le’s final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

5A-SOUTH

DE QUEEN 14, MAGNOLIA 7

MAGNOLIA — Daniel Villeda’s 65yard run in the fourth quarter gave De Queen (3-6, 2-4) a 5A-South victory over Magnolia (2-6, 1-5).

Cody Stevens scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter for De Queen’s other touchdown.

Magnolia tied the game in the first quarter on a 30-yard touchdown pass.
