A week after Nolan Sorensen gained 207 yards of offense in his first start at quarterbac­k, the junior was held to 126 total yards in a 37-3 loss at Jackson State. UAPB could go back to Marcus Terrell, who started the first five games. The Golden Lions still rank among the worst offenses in the SWAC. They are ninth in scoring (15.1 points per game) and total offense (289.6 yards per game), seventh in rushing (188.0) and 10th in passing (147.6 yards per game). Prairie View gave up 42 points in a victory over Southern, 49 in a victory over Alabama A&M and 70 in a loss to Grambling State. But they held Mississipp­i Valley State to six points in a victory and Texas Southern to 11 in a season-opening victory. WHEN PRAIRIE VIEW A&M HAS THE BALL The Panthers have had one of the SWAC’s best offenses under Coach Willie Simmons, who was offensive coordinato­r for SWAC champion Alcorn State last season. The Panthers lead the SWAC in total offense (494.3), are second in scoring (43.5) and passing (307.5) and third in

rushing (186.8). Johnta Hebert is Prairie View’s leading rusher (39 carries for 495 yards) and leading receiver (32 catches for 382 yards), and quarterbac­k Trey Green averages 296.7 yards passing with 15 touchdowns and 3 intercepti­ons. UAPB allowed 469 yards, including 333 passing yards, in last week’s loss at Jackson State. WHAT’S AT STAKE UAPB has been eliminated from SWAC title contention and is still searching for its first conference victory. The Golden Lions haven’t gone winless in the SWAC since 1997.
