Katie Elaine Harris became the bride of Ignace Mugabo at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Cold Spring Events in Paron. Amos Gray, director of Life House Student Ministries at First Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Betty and Stan Harris, 1601 Wetherborne Drive, and the granddaughter of Dorothy and the late Harold Fincher of Magnolia and Charlene and the late Dr. Lowell Harris of Hope.
Parents of the groom are Marie Uwamariya and Jean Baptiste Nkurikiyimfura of Southern Province, Rwanda. His grandparents are the late Anastasie Nyirabugali, the late Godefroid Karamage, the late Nyiramujyongo and Venant Katihabwa Venan.
Two large arrangements of hydrangeas, roses and dahlias decorated the ceremony site. Music was by guitarist and vocalist Nina Ruth Harris, who sang “Be Thou My Vision,” and the father of the bride, who sang with Harris “How Deep the Father’s Love.”
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, wore a cafe-colored satin gown with an overlay of lace-embellished tulle. The sleeveless bodice had a V-neckline and low back, and the full tulle skirt extended to a chapel train. She carried a mix of ivory hydrangeas, miniature burgundy spray roses, blush dahlias, wheat and succulents.
The bride’s honor attendants were Nina Ruth Harris of Little Rock, cousin of the bride, and Kelly Brown of Little Rock, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Audra Sargent and Iesha Williams, both of Fayetteville. They wore traditional Rwandan imishanana with deep red corset tops, long gold printed skirts and a gold drape overlay. They carried smaller versions of the bridal bouquet in fall colors.
Flower girl was Savannah Harris of Little Rock, sister of the bride.
Pacifique Nshuti of Nashville, Tenn., served as best man. Groomsmen were Steve Mugisha, Lambert Rugamba and Stephen Harris, brother of the bride, all of Little Rock. Guests were seated by Elvis Ishimwe of Fayetteville, Rugamba and the brother of the bride.
A reception, also at Cold Springs Events, followed the ceremony. Tables were decorated with arrangements of fall wedding flowers in a variety of styles.
The bride attended Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas Community College and is a certified nursing assistant with plans to attend nursing school next year.
The groom has bachelor’s degrees in civil and construction engineering from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where he was a student member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He is an assistant project manager at AFCO Steel.
