World Community Day Celebration CONWAY — Church Women United of Faulkner County will celebrate World Community Day at 10 a.m. at St. James Christian Methodist Episcopal, 1304 Markham St. Salem United Methodist Church will co-host the event. There will be a short program, followed by light refreshments. The public is invited to attend. Maumelle Newcomers Monthly Coffee MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Newcomers will hold their monthly coffee at 10 a.m. at the Maumelle Community Center. All women in the community are invited. Managing Diabetes Seminar and Screenings CONWAY — Conway Regional Medical Center will present Don’t Let Diabetes Knock You Off Your Feet, a free seminar and screening for the public, from 8-11 a.m. in the Conway Regional Auditorium. A presentation at 9 a.m. will address how to prevent some of the long-term effects of diabetes. Rhonda Monfee Tosh, coordinator of the Conway Regional Diabetes Self-Management Program, and Dr. Glenn McClendon, a Conway podiatrist, will be the featured speakers. Blood-sugar and blood-pressure screenings will be available from 8-11 a.m. Diabetes-related information will be provided, and a light healthy breakfast will be served. Mistletoe Market RUSSELLVILLE — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Arkansas River Valley will hold its seventh annual Mistletoe Market — Shop for a Cause at the L.V. Williamson Boys & Girls Club, 600 E. 16th St. The holiday shopping event will offer an array of merchants’ gift items under one roof, including artwork, with proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Club. Arbor Day Celebration MAUMELLE — The Maumelle Tree Board will hold an Arbor Day celebration at 10 a.m. in front of the Veterans Memorial at Lake Willastein. Arkansas Master Gardeners, arborist Pete Rausch and an Arkansas Forestry Commission representative will give presentations. Smokey Bear is expected to visit. Six trees will be planted in honor of Arbor Day, and drawings for gift cards will be held. In case of inclement weather, the event will be held Nov. 14. Rotary Club Fundraiser HEBER SPRINGS — The Rotary Club of Heber Springs will hold a fall smoked-pork-butt cook from 8-9:30 a.m. at Eagle Bank & Trust. Each 7- to 9-pound pork butt will cost $40. Farm Fest CONWAY — Join the Faulkner County Library, The Locals and the Urban Farm Project to celebrate the harvest at Farm Fest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library. Stop by and meet Kim Doughty, the newest Arkansas GardenCorps Service member, and learn what she has planned for the garden this year. The event is a potluck, so bring a favorite dish to share. Pizza will be available, and there will be live music from The Boomers, Buck Bell and Unheardable Kittens, as well as kids activities. The Urban Farm Project’s garden is behind the library on Tyler

Fall Bazaar MAYFLOWER — The Mayflower United Methodist Women will hold their Fall Bazaar at 7 a.m. The event will feature handmade fried pies for $1 each and copies of the group’s cookbook Feeding the Flock for $10 each. The bazaar will include other homebaked items; jams and jellies; and home-preserved pickles, as well as gently used toys, books, collectibles and other items. Proceeds from the event will fund local mission projects. The church is at the corner of Miller (Arkansas 89) and Grove streets. Salute to Veterans Concert LESLIE — The fourth annual Salute to Veterans Concert will be held at 7 p.m. at the Ozark Heritage Arts Center. The concert’s headliner will be the Mountain View-based group Possum Juice, who plays old-time/folk/bluegrass music. Possum Juice Fiddle player Oakley Smith is from Searcy County and is a two-time Arkansas State Old Time Junior Fiddle Champion, for 2014 and 2015. Retired Teachers Meeting HEBER SPRINGS — The Cleburne County Retired Teachers will meet at noon at the Rustic Inn.
