2 carjackings look linked, LR police say; pair sought

- SCOTT CARROLL

Little Rock police believe two carjackings that occurred minutes apart in the same area Tuesday are related, a police spokesman said Wednesday.

Officers responded at 7:08 p.m. to 500 S. Valentine St., where Anderson Neal Jr. said his white Chevrolet Tahoe had been taken at gunpoint, according to a police report. Neal, 59, of Texarkana, said he was working at the address when two armed teenage boys stole the vehicle and fled north.

Six minutes later, police were called to a carjacking about 2 miles northeast from the South Valentine address, at 820 N. Buchanan St. Logan Ramsey, 29, said two men had blocked his driveway with a white Tahoe and one of them had gotten out of the vehicle and pulled a gun, a police report states.

The man took Ramsey’s wallet and black Acura RDX, then drove away. The other robber fled in the Tahoe, according to police.

No injuries were reported in the holdups.

Investigators believe the robberies are connected, according to police spokesman Lt. Steve McClanahan. He said the circumstances of the robberies are unusual.

“The unique thing there is they took the vehicle and then went to another location and took another,” he said.

Both vehicles were found in the area later Tuesday. Police recovered Neal’s vehicle, wrecked, at Evergreen Drive and Mississippi Avenue. They found Ramsey’s car at Cantrell and Foxcroft roads.

Both vehicles were processed for evidence, police said. Investigators found a wallet in Ramsey’s car that didn’t belong to him or anyone he knows.

The robbers are described as black and in their late teens. Both appeared to stand about 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds. They wore dark-colored pants and hoodies.

McClanahan said an investigation is ongoing.
