Bethlehem House will typically house families who’ve become homeless through loss of jobs or a lack of sufficient income, said the Rev. Ron Larson, pastor of the Advent Lutheran Church in Conway. Larson hopes the shelter will open March 1 with six bedrooms, one reserved for single women and five for families. Organizers have obtained a $25,000 grant for renovating a house on Faulkner Avenue, he said. 10 YEARS AGO Jan. 21, 2006

DANVILLE — Two Yell County residents were charged Friday with robbing a Havana bank and burning a stolen car believed used in the robbery. Cynthia Crawford, 35, and Donnie Ried, 49, both of Plainview, went before a circuit court judge on charges of aggravated robbery, theft and arson in the armed robbery Thursday morning of the Chambers Bank in Havana. Yell County Prosecuting Attorney Tom Tatum said Ried, who retained Fayetteville attorney Wendy Howerton, entered an innocent plea before Circuit Judge Terry Sullivan. Crawford, who was appointed a public defender, is scheduled to return to court Tuesday for her arraignment, he said. The two were ordered held in the Yell County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail each.
