Father dies, 2 kids rescued from lake

A 35-year-old man drowned Saturday afternoon after a boat capsized on Beaverfork Lake, Conway police said.

At 2:19 p.m. authorities were advised that a boat carrying the man and his two children, an 8-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, had capsized. People nearby heard cries for help from the children, who were rescued from the water, police said. The man was not immediately located.

Divers found his body after 90-minute search. Police said the man appeared to have drowned.

Police did not immediately identify the victim. The children, who also weren’t identified, were treated and released from a hospital, police said.
