Turkey calling championships set

The World Turkey Calling Championships will be held March 4-5 at Mack’s Prairie Wings in Stuttgart.

Sponsored by Mack’s and the Arkansas state chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the contest will feature championships for world open, locator, owling, two-man teams, friction intermediate, friction junior, Arkansas state, Arkansas friction and gobbling open.

There will also be an NWTF sanctioned still target shoot March 4 in which shooters will try to place the most pellets inside a 3-inch circle on a paper target from 40 yards. That is the maximum distance the NWTF recommends for shooting at a wild turkey.

Jason Westerberg, Wayne Stewart and Mark Williams will hold crappie fishing seminars, and there will also be turkey calling seminars by Josh Grossenbacher, Will Primos, Ronnie Strickland and Preston Pittman.
