Hogs perform at NFL Combine

- — Tom Murphy

Arkansas tailback Jonathan Williams elected not to run the 40yard dash or do on-field testing other than the bench press during his stint at the NFL Scouting Combine this week in Indianapolis.

Williams told NFL officials he would undergo testing at Arkansas’ pro day March 16, which puts him on the rehabilitation track he began after suffering a torn ligament in his left foot in August.

Williams’ former Arkansas backfield mate Alex Collins ran a 4.59 in the 40-yard dash and was 15th among the running backs at the combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Collins had 18 repetitions at 225 pounds on the bench press, also good for 15th among the backs. An early declarer after rushing for 1,577 yards and a school-record 20 touchdowns in 2015, Collins also had a 28.5-inch vertical jump and a 9-4 broad jump.

Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen ran the 40-yard dash in 4.84 seconds Saturday, 13th among the quarterbacks. Louisiana Tech’s Jeff Driskel won easily among quarterbacks with a 4.56 time.

Allen tied for 12th in the broad jump at 9-2. Driskel, the former Florida quarterback, had the best broad jump with a 10-2, 4 inches better than Memphis’ Paxton Lynch and North Dakota State’s Carson Wentz.

Tight end Hunter Henry finished 11th among tight ends with 13 reps on the bench press.

Arkansas offensive linemen Denver Kirkland and Sebastian Tretola did not burn up the track in the 40-yard dash, with Tretola turning in a 5.45 and Kirkland a 5.55.

Tretola put up 22 repetitions on the bench press, and Kirkland had 19, well behind top performer Christian Westerman of Arizona State, who had 34 reps.
