State rep. presents $10,000 GIF check to Ozarka College
MELBOURNE — Michelle Gray recently presented Ozarka College with a General Improvement Fund check for $10,000. The funds will be dedicated to the Ozarka Aviation-Professional Pilot Program. College officials announced that first cohort of students are in the flight stage of their training, in pursuit of a degree in a career field that presents an opportunity for students throughout the region.
“We are very appreciative of Rep. Gray’s commitment to the college, our students and the Aviation program,” said Richard Dawe, Ozarka president. “She is a tireless advocate in her leadership role as a legislator and clearly sees that this new flight program will lead to many new career opportunities and, eventually, an infusion of additional resources for the area.”
The funds will be used to add improved navigational equipment to one of the college’s training aircraft, improving navigational accuracy and enhancing overall safety.
“This equipment meets a critical need for the college, improves safety and allows us to begin offering comprehensive instrument training for our students and the community,” said Nicholas Lenczycki, director of aviation for Ozarka College. “By offering more advanced coursework, the college will better prepare students for a rewarding career in the aviation industry.”
