PostSecret: The Show coming to UCA
CONWAY — PostSecret: The Show, an immersive, live version of the original online community art project, will present never-before-seen secrets at 7:30 p.m. March 11 in the University of Central Arkansas’ Donald W. Reynolds Performance Hall.
PostSecret — which started as the blog PostSecret.com — has garnered half a billion visitors and half a million anonymous secrets, which were later compiled into six best-selling books. Projected images, videos, three actors and a guitarist guide will lead the Reynolds audience through crowdsourced narratives, revealing the true stories behind the secrets, which range from hopeful to shocking.
“Some of the secrets shared are hilarious, some poignant, and some are heartbreaking,” said Julia Dossett Morgan, director of marketing and finance for UCA Public Appearances. “We’ve partnered with many other entities at UCA to bring this show to Reynolds, as we’re all invested in the mental health and well-being of our students, and PostSecret: The
Show does a great job of investigating issues like bullying, depression and suicide, while balancing those issues with happier topics of love, friendship and secret naughty deeds.”
Before the show, blank postcards will be placed in the Reynolds lobby for audience members to write down their secrets, some of which may be used during the evening’s presentation. The show contains adult themes and mature content. Children will not be admitted, and the age recommendation is 18 years and older.
PostSecret: The Show is sponsored by the UCA College of Fine Arts and Communication, the Student Activities Board, Student Health Services, the Counseling Center and the Division of Student Services-Vice President’s Office.
Tickets are $10 for the general public and free for UCA students with a valid university ID. For tickets, call the UCA Ticket Central Box Office at (501) 450-3265, or toll-free in Arkansas at (866) 810-0012, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or visit www.uca.edu/reynolds.
