Historical society seeks dues, launches website

-

CONWAY — “Old Time Music and Dance” will be the theme of the Faulkner County Historical Society’s annual program for the public, set for 6 p.m. March 8 at the Faulkner County Library, 1900 Tyler St.

David and Donna Peterson of Greenbrier will present the program.

The Faulkner County Historical Society is accepting dues for former and new members for 2016. Members receive the spring and fall issues of the society’s award-winning journal, Faulkner Facts and Fiddlings.

The society has recently launched a new website, faulknerhistory.org.

Judy Corcoran, secretary for the society, said the goal for the site is not only to educate people about the county’s history, but also to frequently add pictures, news items, announcements, stories and items of interest and information in the county and the state. Through the contact links on the site, inquiries are welcome by phone, mail or email about anything of historical interest in the county.

Corcoran said that although the site has been up just a few months, society members have assisted a few visitors with answers to their questions about history and research.

Editors of the Faulkner County Historical Society’s journal welcome stories and articles about the county’s people, families, historic events, inventions, antiques, old houses and other buildings to be included in future issues. Journal submission standards can be found on the society’s website.

For more information about the historical society and the journal, contact Corcoran at judyc@conwaycorp.net or (501) 329-8584.
