4A SOUTH REGION GIRLS

STAR CITY 57, MONTICELLO 35

-

DUMAS — There has been little change the past few years in the Class 4A South Region girls tournament.

The Star City Lady Bulldogs, headed to their 24th state tournament, still rule.

The Lady Bulldogs disposed of Monticello 57-35 on Saturday night, earning their third victory this season over the Lady Billies.

Star City led 15-12 after the first quarter but allowed the Billies just two points in the second quarter to build a 27-14 halftime lead. The Lady Bulldogs led 4223 going into the final quarter.

Latia Harris led Star City with 17 points. Jordan Graysong added 11, Anna Wynn 10, and Sara-Jane Linsy and Amia Ford eight each.

For Brown, whose team won the 4A state title in 2012, it was her 12th regional title. The Lady Bulldogs cruised to the title game with their defense, allowing just 91 points in three games.

Tiarra Austin led Monticello (16-11) with 14 points.
