FUAD AKEL, age 77, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2016. Born in Ramallah, Palestine, on November 26, 1938, he was the son of Ishak Akel and Jamileh Akel. Fuad Akel was married and devoted to his wife, Karimah Akel, for 44 years. He was a devout Orthodox Christian and a lifelong, self-employed entreprene­ur.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ishak and Jamileh Akel; his sisters, Badia Akel, Mesadeh Bateh, Nelli Kassees and Naimeh Alley; and his brothers, Mitri Akel, Essa Akel and Nabih Akel. Fuad Akel is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

JOHN WILLIAM GRANT SR., 81, of Little Rock passed away Monday, March 21, 2016. He was born April 15, 1934, to the late Eugene and Eliza Grant. He served diligently in the United States Army, retiring after 21 years, and was a dedicated employee of Union Pacific Railroad, retiring after 20 years. He enjoying reading, working crossword puzzles, spending time with his grandchild­ren and working in his lawn.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Imogene Henry (Samuel) of Victorvill­e, Calif. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marva Christine Grant; sons, John W. Grant Jr. (Ronella) of Stuttgart and Anthony E. Grant (Choing) of Granada Hills, Calif.; daughter, Karen A. Hayes (Charles) of Maumelle; seven beautiful grandchild­ren and a host of family and friends.

Pastor EDWARD D. LAIRRY was born on February 13, 1948, to the late Deacon Pearl and Mother Josephine Lairry. He accepted Christ at the age of twelve at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, North Little Rock, Arkansas, under the leadership of Rev. N.K. Curry. He grew up faithfully attending Sunday School, prayer meetings, Bible Class, and Baptist Training Union (BTU). He enjoyed being a song leader and singing in the Junior and Young Adult Choirs. He also served as the church clerk for several years.

Pastor Lairry graduated from Scipio A. Jones High School in 1966. He played baseball and began to work at Puckett’s Neighborho­od Store at an early age. He attended Arkansas Baptist College, Little Rock and also GMC Bible Institute. He worked for the AMF Bicycle Factory, Metropolit­an High School and retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 1998.

Pastor Lairry was appointed as deacon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, and served for seven years. At the age of 38, he was called by God into his Ministry. He was licensed as a minister on July 6, 1986. On February 22, 1987, he was ordained by Rev. N.K. Curry. He pastored for a total of 25½ years. He was called to pastor Central Baptist Church, in Gethsemane, Arkansas, and New Hope Baptist Church in North Little Rock, Ark. In January 1999, he founded and organized Greater New Hope Baptist Church.

Pastor Lairry departed this life at home peacefully on Monday, March 21, 2016. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Pearl and Josephine Lairry; wife, Marva Johnson Lairry; daughter, Beverly Jones; son, DeMarkus “Cocoa” Lairry; brothers, Lucious Larry, Billy Larry, and Kenneth Lairry; and sisters, Bernice Maxiell, Lee Etta Ozier, Lee Dora Lairry, Jo Ethel Lairry, Darnella “Dolly” Jones, and Earleen Jordan. FANNIE McCAMMON, 82, of Little Rock passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016. She was born March 14, 1934, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to William and Maggie Crow. Fannie was a beloved wife, mother and grandmothe­r who loved to garden and spend time with her grandchild­ren.

She is survived by her son, Billy McCammon; daughter, Lynda Ray; stepson, Jimmy Ray McCammon; sister, Maggie Reed; eight grandchild­ren; nine great-grandchild­ren; and numerous extended family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Raymond McCammon; parents; and ten siblings.

TSgt. GENE ARDEN RUPLE USAF (Ret.), age 80, of Jacksonvil­le went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 23, 2016. He was born April 19, 1935, in Keeler Township, Michigan, to the late Harold and Dorothy Ann Ruple. Mr. Ruple retired with over 20 years of service in the United States Air Force serving numerous tours in Vietnam, and he earned 3 Distinguis­hed Flying Crosses. His military career allowed him to serve his country around the world, stationed in France, Japan, Okinawa, Thailand, Philippine­s and numerous bases in the US. After his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his family, travelling in his RV, coaching little league baseball, Woodworkin­g, gardening, and was very active member of the retirees that met daily at McDonalds.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Betty Waldenmaie­r. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Delois “Dee” Ruple, one son, Dale Arden Ruple and his wife Kimberly, grandchild­ren, Bradley Arden Ruple and his wife Sheri, Joshua Aaron Ruple and his wife Gina, great-grandchild­ren, Kylee Grace Ruple, McKenzie Lee Ruple, Cayleb Arden Ruple, Julian Aaron Ruple, and Joshua Maxey. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Allen Ruple and his wife Pat and one brother-in-law, William Waldenmaie­r and numerous nieces and nephews.

–––––❖––––– SARAH MARIE TRAVIS, 26, passed peacefully into the hands of the Lord while asleep at home on March 21st. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Thomas Lewis Travis and Dr. Theresa Rodriguez Travis. She graduated from Mount St. Mary Academy in 2008 and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from UALR, where she was pursuing a master’s of applied psychology. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.

She enjoyed attending mass with her mother, traveling, watching movies with her friends and family, and generously giving herself to others, most especially to the many children she loved and who loved her in return. She was a devout Catholic, a loving daughter, a compassion­ate sister, a doting aunt, and a loyal friend. She will be remembered by the many lives she touched as patient, brave, and kind.

She is survived by her parents, Thomas Lewis Travis and Theresa Rodriguez Travis of Little Rock, her siblings, Matthew Travis of Jacksonvil­le, Clare (Stan) Mathis of Little Rock, and Christine Arthur of Little Rock, her niece, Eliza Mathis of Little Rock, four aunts, two uncles, and 23 cousins. She is predecease­d by her grandparen­ts, Garth W. Travis and Ethel Rita Travis of Jacksonvil­le, and Benigno L. Rodriguez and Frances J. Rodriguez of Little Rock.

The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 28th, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N. Rodney Parham Rd., Little Rock, with interment at Forest Hills Cemetery, under the direction of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth.

CONWAY — Kenneth “Wayne” Ernhart, age 53, of Conway, passed away March 20th, 2016, at his home in Conway.

He was born on September 28, 1962, in Rantoul, Illinois; he was the son of CMSGT Kenneth Ernhart and Ann Ernhart. Wayne was a field technician for Verizon for 24 years. He enjoyed playing poker, golf, watching sports, coaching his daughter in softball, and most of all spending time with his grandchild­ren.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparen­ts, Frank and Dorothy Ernhart and his maternal grandfathe­r, Henry Sharp.

EL PASO — Eddie Wayne Null, 58, of El Paso, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord in paradise on March 22, 2016. He was born in England, Arkansas, on August 20, 1957, to Wayne and Marvell Null. He was preceded in death by his precious mother, Marvell.

He is survived by his wife, Tanna; his father, Wayne; his daughters, Danielle’ Hunter Meredith and husband Brad and Amelia (Aimee) Gale and husband Tad; his sons, Andrew Null, Keith Eaton and wife Patricia, Jason Rogers and wife Christy, Dustin Rogers and wife Britney; brother, Randy Null and wife Michele; sister, Cathy Thrift and husband Joseph Dunn. FAIRFIELD BAY — Harry J. (Jack) Chase passed away in Clinton, Ark., after a short illness, on the evening of March 20, 2016. He was 90.

Jack was born on June 19, 1925 in Wichita, Kan., to the late Severy J. and Irene (Way) Chase. He worked along side his dad at Chase Poultry and Egg starting at age 12. In March 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, eventually becoming a 2nd Lt. Bombardier in WWII. After the war he accepted a full-time appointmen­t in the Air Force Reserve, while continuing to work parttime for his father for the next 11 years. In 1957 he accepted a civil service position in the Air National Guard, was promoted from Air Technician to Lt. Colonel over his 37 year military career, and received numerous awards. He enjoyed his active duty tours as well as many trips to the Pentagon, and he especially loved time with family. He also loved gardening, woodworkin­g, fishing, poker, and golf - 3 holes in one, and he didn’t even start playing till he retired at age 55!

Jack is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie (TenKley) Chase, a son, Scott Chase, and a grandson Brennan Garvey. He is survived by two daughters, Jackie Chase and Vicky (Chase) Hawes and spouse David, six grandchild­ren, Carrie, Katherine, Allie, Dena, Katie, and Shawna, and eight great-grandchild­ren, Jack, Brennan, Grant, Eli, Jayce, Kelsi, Taylor, and Sydney.

GREENBRIER — Jeanne B. Akers, 83, of Greenbrier, passed away, Wednesday, March 23, 2016. She was born November 5, 1932, in Lake Stevens, Washington, to the late John Finley Brown and Etta Clauson Strand. Jeanne was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Charles C. Akers, great-grandchild, Chancellor Strack, two brothers, Bob Brown and Harold Brown, and two sisters, Betty Adcock and Helen Munger.

Jeanne was a member of Life Song Baptist Church and retired from the State of Arkansas after many years of service. She enjoyed crocheting and loved fishing, bowling, and square dancing with her husband and lifelong friends. Jeanne was known by her family and friends as “Gangy”. She had a larger than life sense of humor and would make everyone laugh, even at their own expense. Gangy would always make you laugh when she made her bird mouth. Most of all she enjoyed living on the farm and watching over her family. Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, and friend to many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jeanne is survived by one son, Charles Daniel Akers (Pam) of Greenbrier, two daughters, Linda June Miller (the late B.E.) of Greenbrier, and Tamara Jeanne Akers of Greenbrier, one brother, John Brown, six grandchild­ren, Amanda Miller, Jason Miller (Tina), Brandi Malone, Aimee Strack (Scotty), Jessica Gray (Jimmy), and Stacy Brown all of Greenbrier, and nine great-grandchild­ren: Colt Talley, Payton Miller, Landan Malone, Sauloman Strack, Thatcher Strack, Sunni Knapp, Finley Malone, Jaydan Brown, and Ellison Miller, all of Greenbrier.

HORSESHOE LAKE — Mark Sheffield Brown, 61, of Horseshoe Lake, Ark., passed away on March 22, 2016, in Memphis, Tenn. He was born in Memphis, Tenn., on May 25, 1954, to Charles Dillard Brown and Polly Martin Brown and was an alumni of Missouri Military Academy.

She is preceded in death by her parents William and Judith Hester and a grandson Davian Briggs. PINE BLUFF — Fred B. Hyatt, 92, of Pine Bluff died Wednesday, March 23, 2016. Born March 19, 1924 in Heard County, Ga., the son of the late Henry Bryant and Clara Ethel Eley Hyatt, he grew up a sharecropp­er’s son on a farm. He graduated from Centralhat­chee High School in Heard County in 1941, attending West Georgia College (Carrolton, Ga.) from 1941 until being drafted into the U.S. Army in April, 1943. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during WWII until April, 1946. He married Mary Helen Park in San Antonio, Texas, on April 12, 1945 with whom, in his own words they “had a wonderful life” until her death April 5, 2006.

He attended Trinity University (San Antonio), working days and attending nights and Saturdays, earning a BS in Biology in 1950.

Moving to Pine Bluff soon after, he worked as a pharmaceut­ical representa­tive for Wyeth Laboratori­es until retiring December 31, 1986. He was proud he never missed a day of work to illness in all his years traveling for Wyeth.

Starting work as a volunteer with Boy Scouts of America in September, 1946, he continued his Scouting work until 2011, 64 years and eight months. Working with hundreds of 11- to 18-year-old boys, 91 of his troop members became Eagle Scouts. He took Scouts to seven National Jamborees and high adventure trips including Philmont Scout Ranch, Florida Sea Base, Minnesota Canoe Base, Colorado Packard High Adventure Base and hundreds of local campouts. He was scoutmaste­r for Troop 106 in Pine Bluff for 59 years. He hiked hundreds of miles with his troop at Pea Ridge, Shiloh and Philmont, also enjoying some horseback riding.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff (which sponsored Troop 106) he joined a Baptist Church in Carrolton in 1942. He enjoyed woodworkin­g, making many what he described as “trinkets, displays, bird houses and more”. He and his wife enjoyed traveling over 110,000 miles in their motor home after his retirement.

Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Pierce (Rick) of Pine Bluff and Cyndi Asher (Jeff) of Russellvil­le, Ark.; five grandchild­ren; two step-grandchild­ren; six great-grandchild­ren; two step-great-grandchild­ren; and sister, Irma Shelnutt of Centralhat­chee.

Services are Saturday, March 26, at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church with Reverend Ken Thornton and Mr. Jeff Asher officiatin­g. Interment follows at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, 5 to 7 p.m. at Ralph Robinson & Son. SEARCY — Jack Davis Harris, 88 of Searcy passed away on March 23, 2016. He was born October 13, 1927 in Turrell, Arkansas.

Jack is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Hope Harris, two sons, Robert Harris of Harrison, Arkansas and Lee Harris (Mary Ann) of Hixson,

Tennessee, two step-daughters, Teresa Moore (Ronnie) of Searcy and Jill Rose (Randy) of Harrison, Arkansas, ten grandchild­ren and 14 great-grandchild­ren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Clara Harris, a brother, Bill Harris, a sister, Claudette Alexander, and his first wife, Mary Ann Whitaker Harris.

Jack served in the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a retired educator in the Memphis City Schools and was a commercial flight instructor. Jack loved flying airplanes and fishing. He volunteere­d on many boards and committees in the community, including White River Area on Aging, Silver-Haired Legislatur­e, White County Medical Center, White County Literacy, Harding University Resident’s Council and AARP. He was a member of the Cloverdale Church of Christ.

SEARCY — Dorothy Marie Maxwell age 96, of Searcy, passed away on March 22, 2016, in Searcy, Arkansas. She was born January 26, 1920, in Boone County, Iowa, to the late Otis Allen Summers and Mamie E. Luther Summers. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Maxwell, her sons Kenneth Norris, Donnie Norris, and William Maxwell Jr., and sisters Fern and Wilma. She is survived by her son, Richard Norris, daughters, Marilyn Gray and Glenda Morris, 11 grandchild­ren, and numerous great-grandchild­ren and great-great-grandchild­ren. She lived a long and happy life and passed quietly in her sleep.

STAMPS — Kasey Renae Goodwin, age 25, of Stamps, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at her home. She was born March 14, 1991 in Texarkana, Texas to Charlie and Kay Goodwin. Kasey had a strong love for her church and was passionate about working with the children of First Baptist Church in Stamps. She enjoyed teaching the children each Sunday and felt called to this ministry. She had a love of Southern Gospel music and knew the words to all of the songs in her collection. She had special memories of traveling to the National Quartet Convention. Kasey packed a lot of living in her short 25 years despite her many health challenges.

Kasey was preceded in death by her mother, Kay Goodwin and grandfathe­r, James Goodwin. She is survived by her father, Charlie Goodwin of Stamps, Ark.; grandparen­ts, Doris Goodwin of Stamps, Ark. and Roger and Margaret Nutt of Crossett, Ark.; great grandmothe­r, Lottie Croswell of Crossett, Ark.; uncle, Charles Vines of Stamps, Ark.; two aunts, Stephanie Pratt of Strong, Ark. and Beth Nutt of Little Rock, Ark.; cousins, Benjamin Pratt, Caroline Pratt and Natalie Pratt all of Strong, Ark.; and many friends.
