Travs use fast start to handle Drillers

Alex Yarbrough doubled twice and singled, finishing 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored as the Arkansas Travelers capitalize­d on six Tulsa Drillers errors in an 8-4 victory Wednesday night at ONEOK Field in Tulsa.

Sean Coyle led off the game with a home run to left field on a 2-2 pitch to give the Travelers a quick 1-0 lead. David Fletcher followed with a single, then scored on Yarbrough’s double to center field. Yarbrough moved to third on the throw to the plate and later scored on Jabari Henry’s sacrifice fly for a 3-0 lead.

Bo Way started the Travelers second inning with a leadoff single. He stole second base and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Kyle Farmer. Zach Welz hit an RBI single to score Way for a 4-0 lead. Welz advanced to third on an Anthony Phillips single and scored on Coyle’s RBI groundout. Fletcher followed with a two-out single before scoring on Yarbrough’s double to left field to give the Travelers a 6-0 lead.

The Drillers cut the lead to 6-4 in the fifth inning when Jordan Tarsovich hit an RBI single to score Lars Anderson. A second Farmer error and a fielding error by Willie Calhoun led to the Travelers scoring their final runs in the sixth inning.

Anthony Phillips singled three times for Arkansas and Fletcher went 2 for 5 with 2 runs scored.
