JOSHUA JAMES BERRY, 24, of Little Rock, passed away on October 27, 2016. He was born in Little Rock on October 6, 1992 to Thomas and Laura (Davis) Berry. He was the member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He worked as a server for Bravo Restaurant.

He is survived by his fiancee, Rachel Cozart of Little Rock; father, Thomas Berry (Cheryl) of Benton; sisters, Elizabeth Harrelson (Michael) of Omaha, Ark., Sarah Berry of Little Rock and Emma and Sarah Williams of Benton; grandparen­ts, James T. and Ruth Davis; aunts and uncles, Steven Davis (Connie) of Knoxville, Tenn. and Greg Davis (Jennifer) of Carrollton, Texas; a host of other family and many friends at the Little Rock Kick Ball Associatio­n. He was preceded in death by his mother, Laura Berry and grandparen­ts, James and Rosemary Berry.

Rosary will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m., followed by visitation at Christ the King Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, November 3 at 10 a.m., at Christ the King, celebrated by Msgr. Francis I. Malone. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. –––––❖––––– Mrs. GERTRUDE ELIZABETH SOUTH WITT, 95, of Little Rock, Arkansas went to be with her Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2016. She was born February 11, 1921 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of the late Charles and Gertrude Holtzman South and widow of the late Jack Preston Witt.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for over 82 years, Phebean Sunday School Class and a member and former leader of Current Missions Group and XYZ. She and the late Mrs. W.O. Vaught visited the newborn babies of Immanuel for over 28 years.

Mrs. Witt attended Little Rock public schools and graduated from Little Rock Senior High School in 1939. She was past president of the Little Rock Business and Profession­al Women’s Club, former member of the Woman’s City Club, M.M. Ebert’s American Legion Auxiliary, Business Women’s Social Service Club, Centennial Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Quota Club, Women’s Democratic Party and the Baptist Medical Center Auxiliary. She was a member of the Little Rock Department­al Club. She joined the Little Rock Business and Profession­al Women’s Club in 1944 and was later elected president. In 1962, the Little Rock Business and Profession­al Women’s Club elected her the Business Woman of the Year. As state membership chairman of the Arkansas Federation, she organized the greatest number of clubs ever organized in one year and Arkansas had the largest membership in the history of its federation. Under her leadership, 14 new clubs were organized and Arkansas was awarded the national Silver Trophy, which is the highest award presented by the National Federation for the state having the greatest increase in membership. Mrs. Witt was voted the “Most Important Member of the Arkansas Federation at the state convention that year. She is listed in Who’s Who of American Women-3rd and 4th editions.

She is survived by her half-sister, Mrs. Joann Yauch of Bullard, Texas and half-brother, Mr. Jerry South of Montgomery, Texas.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Dr. Rex M. Horne Jr. officiatin­g. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.
