- EMMA PETTIT

An Arkansas motorcyclist died after he lost control of his vehicle and slid into a ditch outside Pearcy on Sunday morning, according to Arkansas State Police.

Additionally, in separate pedestrian accidents on Interstate 40, a woman and a man were killed when they were hit by trucks.

In the motorcycle accident, Albert Lloyd Vanover, 27, of Lonsdale was driving a 2015 Harley-Davidson north in the 800 block of North Moore Road in Garland County at 5:17 a.m., according to a state police report.

As he was riding through a curve, Vanover’s motorcycle veered out of control and slid into a ditch, and his body struck a sign, the report said. Vanover was pronounced dead at the scene, and no one else was injured in the wreck, police said.

Conditions were clear and dry at the time of the wreck, authorities said.

An Alabama woman was killed when a tractor-trailer struck her as she walked across I-40 last week, state police said.

In a preliminary report, authorities said the pedestrian crash occurred at 2:07 p.m. Wednesday when Roxanne Lodge, 33, of McCalla, Ala., was crossing I-40 at mile marker 277 near West Memphis.

State police say that as Lodge walked north from the south side of the highway, which runs east to west, an eastbound 2012 Freightliner struck her.

Another Arkansas pedestrian was killed Sunday morning when he was run over by a vehicle on I-40 in Conway County, according to state police.

Brian Flud, 33, of London was standing on the center dotted line between the westbound lanes on the interstate near Menifee about 3:10 a.m. when he was hit by a 2011 International truck, according to a police report.

The force of the impact knocked Flud down, and the vehicle ran over him, state police said. It wasn’t clear why Flud was standing on the interstate.

The driver of the truck was not injured, and conditions were clear and dry at the time, state police said.
